Title challenge

Does anyone think that lack of belief could halt our title challenge. Would we benefit by getting motivational coaches in working on the psychological aspects of winning.
I honestly believe that the title is there for the taking this year. Investing some cash by the club on this could make all the difference.. Thoughts?

Re: Title challenge

You know sometimes when I let myself get positive you can really think Yes, we can go for it and do it. I think though they would need a pile of motivational coaches for us as well.

Re: Title challenge

Haha you're probably right. Our natural inferiority complex kicks in and we lose our minds edge like against killie. Too many players believed it would be difficult to win on the synthetic pitch and the result was never in doubt

Re: Title challenge

Yeah they certainly didn't look overconfident against Kilmarnock, im not against the idea of bringing anyone in that could change the mindset like Alex Ferguson did with Aberdeen although he was everything rolled into one. Plenty Sports psychologists out there but the manager and chairman would have to see the need for this

Hear their shout, hear their roar
They've probably had a barrel of ale and much, much more
Hooray, hooray, hooray, yeah

Re: Title challenge

No bad take on things. Lookin at every team in the SP this Season, we've all got an idea where they should all 'fit in' at the end of the Season. We'd be happy with 4th, but over the moon with 3rd or 2nd. In the case of top spot, it's generally accepted that the Cesspit have got the best chance of it. Think this myself, but also hope that they wouldn't win by a large margin, and hope that it's gonna be a lot closer than ever. Think we'll have a better idea by the New Year.

Re: Title challenge

managers role to motivate the team imho..the best managers have always been driven as fuck, headstrong and arrogant...nae need for psychologists imo

we've not got the experience or depth to the squad to win the league...the only way we could have done that was to have kept robo and gauldy and added 3 or 4...even then we'd struggle

Re: Title challenge

I just think that without hibs, hearts, sevco and Celtic with a new manager , St Johnstone without Stevie  May's goals ,and Aberdeens old timers a year older- it's winnable.
I don't think JMac  is a Fergie style manager. Get in someone to "almost" brainwash them into believing they can do it and you know , we might just.

Re: Title challenge

Would love to think that we could do it but realistically we will not come close and the Tic will win by at least 15pts (which is less than usual i am predicting)

We will have a blip like last year and will go a few game without winning, this due to lack of depth and us really not being that much better a squad than the rest of the teams in the league.

Every team will all take points off of each other, only difference is once Celtic get into gear the momentum seems to carry them on whereas any momentum for us and others becomes more about a fear and expectation of when it will all go tits up like last weekend!

Agree wholeheartedly with the thrust of your post but,

1. The management team are pretty good motivators as it is, generally.
2. Any investment on motivational coaches/sports psychologists would be futile re title winning, as it would be a drop in the ocean compared to the additional worth of Septic's team to our's.

Re: Title challenge

Biggest monkey on our back is beating celtic at parkhead. We have been close to victory so many times, it is dumbfounding how many times this has been snatched away from us. Last season was one of the worst, my living room funiture felt the brunt of our defeat. Things like this must have an effect, everytime we play them our record against them at parkhead is brought up.
