Re: Pay at gate prices

Thompson is a fucking arsehole. This ridiculous decision will ensure our lowest average attendance in almost 50 years. We'll be lucky to top 4,000 home fans each week.

Re: Pay at gate prices

Reflecting on the pricing tonight, if designed to push folk to buy season tickets, I wonder if later in the day United will announce they've taken fan concerns on board and have brought pay at the gate prices down.

Whatever is behind the decision, it seems they've pissed off far too may fans if reaction is taken into account.

Scottish football is, in any event, fucked with the folk in charge of the game overall still in position, and the people on the boards of clubs having no clue as to how to progress their 'product'. Evidence of that is the Partick Thistle reaction to fixture announcements.

He's clearly trying to make things better, people are moaning for the sake of moaning

What has he "clearly done" to make things better?

Re: Pay at gate prices

The more I think about this the angrier I am becoming, the fans were outstandingly brilliant last season in numbers home and away and now we have to pay FOR HIS mismanagement.

I don't see anything positive or what can be considered pay back from our bungling leader, only hollow statements.

Disgusting our brilliant fans have to pay for his utter incompetence

Re: Pay at gate prices

Our fans were brilliant last season and they will be brilliant again this year, no doubt! Having thought about it, it's probably not the most sensible thing to do without any explanation at all

Re: Pay at gate prices

If this was any other business u used regularly u wouldn't ever go back.

It'd be like ur local saying we've replaced the £3 a pint Stella with £3.50 a pint Skol but we still expect u in ur usual seat every weekend.   U wouldn't be tho u'd be in the pub up the road.

Football clubs use fans emotional ties to fuck them over time after time.

On reflection - a protest outside the ground 1st game of the season is the only way forward.  Fuck giving in to this bullshit.

Re: Pay at gate prices

How to run a football club

1. make a bad decision
2. Wait for the fans complaints
3. If there's enough complaints, reverse bad decision
4. Repeat, while smugly thinking everyone will think ur great, while actually the more it happens the more of a useless twat u become.

Re: Pay at gate prices

First of all its great that they've reduced lower tier prices from £22 to £20 even though that's still an increase from last season.
However my main gripe to spence yesterday(had long conversation with him yesterday.  He got in touch about 5 minutes after fed sent email to St) was the upper tier price.  I think its not only unfair on our fans but also away fans as well because undoubtedly the club will put the majority of our opponents fans in the top tier of the Jim McLean stand.  Wouldn't surprise me if clubs done a tit for tat with our fans.

Re: Pay at gate prices

I'm presuming the upper tier price is still £24 given its not mentioned in the statement?

Crazy.  Even more mad is the praise he's getting for reducing prices, when actually he's put it up £1 from last season for bottom tier and £3 for top tier and increased the season ticket per game price.  Some of our support really do have zips on their head.

Away supporters intending to come to Tannadice will be put off by these prices. The knock on effects could be our opponents charging higher prices when United visit, making it a costlier time in the lower league than we might have envisaged.  We'll be seen as acting 'Billy Big Baws'  by our opponents.

I sometimes think the folk who decide on prices have no idea what budgets are like for ordinary people, and also have no idea how to market their product to their customers.

Very disappointed with the club, who I thought might look at their decision making in a more sensible light following the last few seasons' follies.

Pat, you should really be associate director rather than posting these gems of rationale here.

Edit to say, sorry, or both.
