Re: DUFC U20's Thread

Looked like it could be Jack Henry playing for them that was playing for us at Oban at start of last season, and a few other games later on?

Re: DUFC U20's Thread

Don't know if this is common knowlege but Utd basically have two u20's teams. Basically one team plays games in the Development League whilst the other boys play friendlies against other teams usually ones outwith the development league setup. I guess this is where Joe McGovern, Jordan Moore and Darren Petrie have been hiding. Strange, think they'd be better out on loan.

Too much commotion

Re: DUFC U20's Thread

Moore's being nursed back to fitness and it's the "young" team to play in the youth derby cup game on Sunday after mainly "reserve, aka development" games for more established and slightly elder players getting game time.

Problem for us is they're all so young.

Re: DUFC U20's Thread

Some players only played well one half but not really any failures. Ali Coote gets better every time I see him and Regan Tumilty's really matured this season. Harwood and Ballantyne sound as ever. Rafa now playing the team game rather than sanddancer.

Re: DUFC U20's Thread

Goals and SC's post match on the ZONE now and both well worth a watch.

Great to see such good ZONE coverage of upcoming stars.

Ali is a prospect and a half. Nice grounded lad as well.

Re: DUFC U20's Thread

Just watched the Derby highlights.

Extremely impressed by Ali Coote. His 1st touch and change of pace for the 1st goal and his trickery at the corner flag at the 4th goal...WOW.

Also thought Rafa Malaga looked much bigger, stronger and more robust than when i last saw him 14/15 months ago.2 great goals fae him.

My one minor criticism is all 3 goals we conceded were poor.Good header fae Wighton for their 3rd but header was fairly central, young Goalie will be dissapointed he never got a hand on that.

Still, great result considering they had their 'superstar' in their team and we were down to 10.

One other thing.

Stevie Campbell.Watched his interview. What a great asset he is to our club.

Really infectious character who's enthusiasm for the job just pours out of him.

You can tell he really cares about the players aswell.

Full Time -

Accies 2 - 0 Utd

Young Terrors faring no better on plastic than the 1st team did i'm afraid.Pretty dissapointing result tbh considering there was a fair sprinkling of 1st team experience in the team.

Think the team badly misses a Jordan Moore type i.e. someone who can put the ball in the back of the net regulary.

Re: DUFC U20's Thread

Just looked on Darren Petrie's Twitter and he said "Hate being injured and can't wait to get back at it."  That was 4 weeks ago.  Looks like he's still out then. The 20's really do seem to struggle to get results.  I know its about performance but surely if you are playing well you will win more often than not??  Affy lot of hype about our youths but this batch not really cutting it by the looks of things at the moment.  Good youth teams tend to come in cycles though.

As you said yourself the other day there is 2 young teams, more or less.

It would seem it's the 16-17 year old's who are standing out at the moment like Coote,Montgomery,Harry Souttar,Jamie Montgomery.

The older, more established players like Callum Butcher,Mark Wilson,Marc McCallum, and dare i say it Spittal and Telfer need to start showing what they can do at U20 level asap if they're to be considered 1st team competition.

Re: DUFC U20's Thread

Of the starting team today I think only Adam Harwood has still to make his 1st team debut so it's disappointing they still lost. FWIW the young young team were excellent on Sunday so today's game could be seen as an indicator of our 1st team squad more than the latest batch of youths.

Edit to say, FS, just wasted a post.
