Most famous resident of each big UK City?

Who in your opinion is the most famous Son or Daughter (living or dead) from each large UK city? As in a global sense i.e. someone has probably heard of them in New Zealand, Alaska or South Africa.

They no longer have to stay in the city. But have to have been born there and have stayed in their home city for a considerable amount of time (more than a few weeks). Just one name for each please.

Aberdeen -
Dundee -
Edinburgh -
Glasgow -
Belfast -
Newcastle -
Sunderland -
Leeds -
Sheffield -
Liverpool -
Manchester -
Cardiff -
Birmingham -
London -

Re: Most famous resident of each big UK City?

I'll give it a shot. First name is who I think is most likely to be recognised, in my opinion, and the other name in brackets is the people who I personally think of being attached to the city.

Aberdeen - Annie Lennox (Evelyn Glennie)
Dundee - Brian Cox (William TOPAZ McGonagall)
Edinburgh - Sean Connery (Shirley Manson)
Glasgow - Sir Alex Ferguson (Robert Carlyle)
Belfast - George Best (Roy Walker)
Newcastle - Gazza (Brian Johnson)
Sunderland - Bryan Ferry (Lauren Laverne)
Leeds - Mel B (Vic Reeves)
Sheffield - Sean Bean (Michael Palin)
Liverpool - Paul McCartney (Kim Cattrall)
Manchester - Danny Boyle (Albert Finney)
Cardiff - Ryan Giggs (Shakin' Stevens)
Birmingham - Ozzy Osbourne (Kenny Baker, R2 D2)
London - David Bowie (Charlie Chaplin)
