sean dillon

his form for most of last two years has been truly awful especially at centre half surely if mckinnon plays him he must play at right back as thats his best position

Re: sean dillon

At Hampden v Hibs I thought he had one of his best ever games for us too, but he has been culpable sadly over 2 seasons as you say.

Re: sean dillon

The 2-1 defeat to Dundee at Dens that  relegated us should have signalled his last ever game in a Utd shirt.

He then of course then just a few days later did play (at Tannadice) where I witnessed him do something I've never seen a Utd player (or any player for that matter) do. He set-up Partick's equaliser after panicking (with no-one really even that close to him) and proceeds to smash the ball against his own face in a ridiculous attempt at hoofing it backwards.

He was never anything more than 'ok'.And even those days we're now 5-6-7 years ago.

Should have been told to find himself a new club, along with Dixon.

Re: sean dillon

So much more good than bad, especially when not playing LCB and LB to accommodate others.

Re: sean dillon

I agree to a certain extent with dillo and Dixon however, I don't think the championship is actually as good as its made out to be and I seriously wouldn't be surprised if dillo and Dixon aren't a stand out in he championship however Time will tell! I just cannot wait to see a few signings come in

Re: sean dillon

He must go he's far too erratic and he's past his sell by date

Re: sean dillon

I don't know one single United fan who doesn't like Dillon. A great servant and a nice guy.

If he was a horse though he'd have been sent to the dog food factory a few years ago. Wouldn't wish him ill but really do not want to see him at Tannadice next season.

More importantly, has Dow gone yet?

Yeah yeah Industrial Estate

Re: sean dillon

Dow is out of contract and the only player McKinnon's made noises about keeping is Dixon.

So I think it's safe to assume Dow's away.

Hopefully.

Re: sean dillon

Just read an article by RM that said " people have had a losing mentally all season and you don't want to take that into the championship " . Hopefully that signals the end of Dillon 👋🙏well past his sell by date ?

Re: sean dillon

Yet he wants to keep Dixon??

Who (let's not sugar coat this because he's an Arab) has been one of our worst players over the past 18 months.

Maybe he thinks his career can be saved. But he'd need to take a serious pay cut (with a view to his wage rising again upon promotion).

Re: sean dillon

Thing is with Dillon (and Dixon, Anier and Durnan) is they don't have to leave, far less take a pay cut.

If they're as bad as many on here intimate then who on earth would want them anyway.

If Ray is a better manager than the previous two then one of the ways he'll show it is by getting more out of the Dillons, Dixon's etc than his predecessors.

And he'll need to as at least one of them is going nowhere and I doubt we'll shift more than one of the others I've mentioned above.

Tek as far as I know this topic was about Dillon and not Dixon ?.Dillon was crap last year , I think when Rankin and Paton slated the attitude and the overall accecptness of defeat from the team where directed at Dillon and others, he was our captatain and did not say FNPeep about losing his armband  😡😡

Re: sean dillon

It was about Dillon, yes.

But when the subject of casting out players with a 'losing attitude' arose I again raised the wisdom of keeping Dixon.

His performances, attitude and all round body language were dreadful last season (and the last 6 months of season 14/15 for that matter).

It seems he gets cut a lot more slack than others though.

How do we know he didn't say a "FNPeep" about it behind closed doors to the manager? I don't think Dillon strikes me as the sort of petulant person that would throw his toys out of his pram and publicly let on about things like that. He acted very professionally about it and got on with things when he could just as easily have went in a big cream puff about it to the further detriment of the team.

And I am not sticking up for his performances on the field of last season, just sticking up for his professionalism and integrity.

Re: sean dillon

But as a captain of our club , did he deliver the standards you would expect? And to put your mind at rest , Dixon for me is if he goes so what?  Could not care less , but loyalty does not make u immune to criticism......

Sorry seib , but how many games when HE flogged the goals did you see him jumping up and down like 5 year old blaming every body else , should be away as far as I'm concerned , he is and will b a liability for us next season  but as long as he acts in a professional way that's ok !!!

Nothing makes you immune to criticism, just saying we don't know what goes on behind closed doors or in the dressing room so I wouldn't be that presumptuous.

And don't worry you don't need to put my mind at rest, but if it puts your mind at rest then no he hasn't delivered the standards on the pitch I would expect from a captain for many seasons now.
