Streaming via kodi

Didn't think this topic fitted in any one particular forum...

I've recently installed kodi on my Amazon firestick and getting mixed results streaming live tv (sport mainly) and movies and box sets. I've been using the "wookie" build, lite version.

Anyone into this and can give any hints and tips on how to get the best out of it?

Re: Streaming via kodi

I've done this and it's not great.  I've also installed MOBDRO on it which seems to be a bit more reliable.

MOBDRO instead of Wookie? or instead of Kodi?

Sorry, this is all new to me

You can access via Kodi, but I couldn't get it to work.

This shows you how to do it that way though:

Its really straight forward and I got it installed no bother but nothing would play!

So I installed it separately as a stand alone app on the Fire Stick.  To do that I had to get the set up file and put it in my One Drive (I used my computer to do that), then on the Fire Stick I used an app called ES File Explorer to download the set up file and run it (there might be an easier way to do it but that's how I figured it out!)

Re: Streaming via kodi

Got Kodi on one of these Android TV boxes, that basically saves you havin to have and pay for Skyhigh Sports. OK when it works but I've found a bit intermittent.

Recently installed Mobdro like what Slateford says, and I've found that to be more reliable, but depending on your choice of the channel you're after on the list eg. Sky Sports 1, the picture quality varies quite a bit. Beggars canna be choosers I suppose.

Re: Streaming via kodi

Like Billy H, I've got a wee Android TV box, and besides using Mobdro, which is good for sports channels, especially if I use a cable rather than simply wi-fi, I've put Showbox on it for films and TV programmes. Normally I'll download the film so that I know there will be no connection problems.

Best £20 I've spent this year (from Aliexpress).

Mind you, what I've written doesn't help Goodie Conway 2.

I'd originally got the box to use Kodi on the telly rather than a laptop, but I find it a bit of a fiddle trying to find the sports programmes, and again would also welcome any simple advice.

Re: Streaming via kodi

My dad and my brother in law have got Kodi on Amazon Fire TV Sticks.  I've never seen it work yet for either of them.  He got me a Fire TV Stick for Christmas and directed me to what to do to install Kodi.  I never bothered and just got the wife to sell it to a boy in her work.  I had a Google Chromecast already which is braw if you've got Showbox for the films.

Re: Streaming via kodi

I watched pretty much all of the final round of The Players Championship on Sky Sports 4 on Sunday and then most of Brighton v Sheff Wed last night. Nowhere near HD quality but watchable and free!

Takes a bit of fannying about trying to find a good stream but worth it IMO
