David Beaumont (born 10 December 1963 in Dunfermline) is a retired professional Scottish footballer who played for Dundee United,Luton Town and Hibernian.

As a youth, Beaumont won the Under-18 European Chamionships
with Scotland in 1982 and reached the quarter-finals of the resulting 1983 Under-20 World Championships. *How many Dundee United players can you name?*

A versatile defensive midfielder, Beaumont made the breakthrough into the Dundee United first team during the 83/84 season
,but found it hard to get a regular spot in a defence with a back four of Malpas,Hegarty,Narey and Gough. He was used as cover for all four, and appeared as a defensive midfielder occasionally over the next couple of seasons.

Beaumont spent nearly half of the 86/87 season
in the starting eleven, his best run in the first team, making 40 appearances, and played in six matches of United's UEFA Cup run that season, including an appearance as substitute for Paul Sturrock in the 1st leg of the Final in Gothenburg.

His final goal for Dundee Utd was a memorable one...it came on the 3rd December 1988 in a 0-1 away win at Ibrox against the Champions..Rangers!

Dave's final Dundee United appearance was on January 7th 1989 in a 0-1 win v Dundee at Dens Park on league business.

His career at United ended in January 1989 when he moved to Luton Town for a fee reported at £150,000.

Beaumont would appear on the front cover of the programme of Luton's Littlewood's Semi Final v West Ham in 1989 (they won both legs..5-0 on aggregate).

Luton were the League Cup holders. But alas, their bid to win the Littlewoods Cup back to back was in vain as they lost the Final 3-1 to Brian Clough's great Nottingham Forest at a sunny Wembley in front of 76,000 fans on 9th April 1989.
Beaumont's former Dundee Utd team mate Raphael Meade was on the bench for Luton that day.Beaumont started the match and played the full 90 minutes.(highlights below).

He returned to Scotland with Hibernian in October 1991.

Weeks later, he was an unused substitute as they beat Dunfermline Athletic
2-0 in the 1991 Skol Cup Final

Injuries plagued him after this, however, and sadly he was forced to quit the senior game in 1994 aged just 30.

Beaumont is now a Policeman
back in Fife, playing for the Scottish Police team in his spare time.

He played for Cupar Hearts for a few years after quitting the pro game.

Some not bad highlights in a short career, UEFA final and a Wembley cup final.

Re: Random Ex-DUFC Generator #2 - Dave Beaumont

A much better player than many of us gave him credit for being, for, to be honest, we were spoiled in the 'eighties.

That game Davie Beaumont scored at Ibrox, I think our wee supporters club went in fancy dress, and the bus driver parked in among the Rangers buses, which was unfortunate, given I was dressed as a priest.

Think the last I heard speaking to my Police colleagues was that Davie was retiring or just had retired when they just moved from Fife Constabulary to Police Scotland a few years ago.

He certainly wasn't playing in the last few Fire V Police football matches.

He got to a pretty good level in Fife Constabulary and was very well thought of so good on him.
