New signing and what we need?

Obviously there's going to be a massive overhaul in players in the summer, and I'm no gonna lie I'm like a wee kid I bloody love when United sign a new player, always buzzing to see them play! Anyway, I would like to see us sign a new goalie, right back, cents back, 3x centre mid, wingers and a striker!

If actually had a look at the out of contract players in prem and championship, this is who I feel we should be looking at!

Craig Samson (Motherwell)
Paul hanlon (hibs)
David Raven/Gary Miller (ict/county)
Blair Alston (Falkirk)
Barry Robson (Aberdeen)
Michael pallardo (hearts)
David templeton (minks)
Aaron Doran (ict)
Jordan white (livingston)
faissal el bakhtaoui (Dunferline)

Would be some team! What's your thoughts and who do you want ?

Don't want to be the one to be negative but we would've been lucky to attract many of these players on our top 6 budget nevermind what it'll be in the championship. In saying that we need a total over haul and I reckon it will be. Was hoping Zwick would play well today to give himself a chance next season but eh wasn't too impressed with his parrying back in to the danger area tbh.

Whole new 11 I reckon come start of our campaign, who'll be in it is anyone's guess though

Re: New signing and what we need?

the boy alston is a cracking player at falkirk as someone has said i agreee doubt we would get many if any of those.

Not a clue who we will sign looking forward to seeing who Ray goes for.

Zwick, Robson, Souttar, Smith, JJ, Coote, Murray, Fraser, Spittal will be regulars next season

Add in Dillon, Suker, Ballantyne, Brad Smith and Murrell and that's 15 players which will make up the bulk of our first team squad next season. I can't imagine there will be much more than 4-5 players coming in.

Re: New signing and what we need?

I'd be looking to bring in an experienced GK, CH and defensive CM (would be happy if Paton stayed)  and a big CF (I'd offer Ofere a deal).

If the budget was there I'd also try to sign a right back and another winger.

Re: New signing and what we need?

I'd take Robson in a heartbeat.

An absolute winner. Watch him going around the park digging boys out whenever heads go down.

Would definitely help the young lads. Apparently was raging in the studio during the last derby. Perhaps still has a soft spot for the club.

Robson would be my first signing and make him captain

If we can get Robson he has to be a absolute certainty

Re: New signing and what we need?

I'd take him - for his on pitch leadership.... but dunno if has the legs for it anymore.

We need leaders - influence all over the park. Jackie tried and failed to have a team full of youth without leaders among them.

A keeper is a must though

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Re: New signing and what we need?

Yip, another vote for Robson, think he would be great in the Championship.

Need a strong centre half and a vocal, experienced keeper too, those and a bit of dig in centre midfield (i.e. Robson)  would be my priorities.

Re: New signing and what we need?

Robson just told the BBC that he's hanging up his boots so that's a non starter.

Re: New signing and what we need?

Robson's finished. Good decision to hang up his boots imo.

Don't know much about Toshney but did Dundee not get rid?

I want some players who are in a word fucking DYNAMIC.

Run their bollocks off, have a hunger and know what to do with a football at their feet

Re: New signing and what we need?

I think that for years United have tried to find players with the "X-factor" where in reality we should have been going back to basics. I think Levein got it to a certain degree.

I always think of Dunfermline of a few years back, they had guys like Lee Bullen and Scott Thompson who most Arabs would look down their nose at, but they were hardy bastards who knew how to play the game. We've not had that sort of player for years.

Re: New signing and what we need?

He didn't look finished at Tannadice a couple of months ago Tek. He was brilliant that night, full of energy.

Doubt he'd be able to produce that on a weekly basis but still reckon he could have done a job.

Re: New signing and what we need?

Agreed he completely took Fraser to the cleaners that night

Toshney is a good player who has been held back by injuries at Celtic and Dundee, if he is fit he will do better than us, unless McKinnon can persude him to come

Re: New signing and what we need?

For me a new keeper and back 4 who would boot fuck out of their granny for a clean sheet is a must.

One change I would love to see is that the team return to training in Dundee, I think St Andrews, although being a nice cosy base for them has led to a real disconnect with the players and the Club as a whole. Taking it most the squad were travelling from outwith the City it meant that most of the players were actually only in Dundee for the games every second weekend or getting on the team bus to an away fixture. How can you get a feeling for the fans or an understanding of the club if you are based 15miles away and only making the odd trip to do the odd community work and for a game every second week?

Just my opinion but that would be the first thing I'd change!
