The only way forward..

Forget about Spence,Southern or whoever.

If ST is to remain. And it would seem he is going nowhere anytime soon. Then HE has to face up to this disconnection within the support personally.

Hold an open meeting with Thompson (and his BoD),Fed,AT where questions are asked and answered including detailed responses about our finances and the future direction of the club. The truth laid out warts and all, regardless of how unpalatable it may be to swallow.

It has to be an open meeting though. No more of this 'nudge nudge wink wink' cryptic stuff between various factions.Have it properly policed and put it up on Arabzone.

If this doesn't happen soon he has to resign asap from his role as Chairman and we need a unifying figurehead on the Chair.

This Civil War cannot continue. It will set the club back years.

Re: The only way forward..

You're right Tek. A wee bit of transparency from the club might help unite folk. At the moment, we're like a poisonous soap opera.  If the present atmosphere carries on there's no chance of bouncing straight back to the Premiership.

Sense.

Think we are more likely to see this though:

He wont tell you a thing about the finances. He wont tell anyone a thing about the finances. No one knows where the money has went.

Genuine question here since I've never owned a company but . . Does all money in and out of a business not have to be accounted for at the end of the financial year?  I mean I know self employed people can work off the books to save tax or whatever but surely in a football club money can't just disappear ?

Makes sense, he has lost trust of a lot of fans and to regain it he has to be open, honest and put all his cards on the table.  To me the fact he hired a PR consultant to liaise with fans suggests there's no total honesty coming soon, you don't need PR consultants to tell the truth.

The club has already been set back years and I fear it's gonna get worse.

He hired Spence as the 'middle man' because he obviously wants to extend an 'Olive branch' but is scared of facing our fans in person i think. And i can understand that to a degree.

If such a meeting were to ever take place he would need assurances that it was going to be policed correctly and there should be maturity and civility shown. It descending into a rabble would help no-one.Perhaps have the questions pre-prepared and the person reads them out from a mic and the panel (BoD) then get a chance to answer (similiar to the Question Time format if you will).

I understand feelings are running very high (myself included) but i think everyone has to take a deep breath here and think calmly and rationally about the best way to take things forward.

If he were to meet the fans and be totally honest regards everything and give a clear outlook and plan on what we are going to do to get the club back where we belong (Top 6 club in Scotland) then i think we could all get a bit of closure and start to concentrate on supporting the team and enjoying being Utd supporters again.

This bad feeling can't continue because it's permeating the entire club now and could well undermine McKinnon's bid to rebuild us.We need to be UNITED (apols for the sickening cliche) because next season is going to be tough enough with Hibs,Falkirk/Killie,St.Mirren,Qots,Dunfermline,Raith,Morton,etc etc.Tough league.

Just my tuppence worth. We need solutions here Gents, not more self-inflicted problems.

Maybe he genuinely wants to extend an olive branch, maybe he just tried to use a friend of his to smooth things over and continue to keep everything that needs answered close to his chest.

As for suggesting he's scared, I would suggest he's maybe scared of the questions he'd be asked, but scared for his safety? No chance.  He's not exactly in hiding, everyone knows his usual haunts and he's still in them regularly, living his normal life. I'd give the guys who'd be invited to such a meeting taking place a bit more credit that they'd know how to behave TBH.

Re: The only way forward..

There will be forward until Thompson goes, too many fans myself included can never forgive him for his self centered greedy actions.

He's praying Robertson gets sold this summer so he gets a large wedge again, if that happens I'm certain he'll bail.

After he's gone I'm certain we'll find out just how snidey he was and how much he's raked in.

Re: The only way forward..

I think its time to call a ceasefire, we get the picture  a hardened group of fans  have Thompson in the same  category as Craig Whyte and Vlad Romanov. Personally im more interested in watching the last game of the season to see a few of the youngsters in action. ST will leave when he wants to , might be tommorow might be 2,5 years who knows, currently there is no alternative.

I wasn't suggesting anyone would attack him or anything like that.

But mass heckling etc wouldn't exactly help the situation if we are trying to finally get some answers.

I doubt any of this will happen btw.

If anyone else has any decent suggestions btw other than  1 or 2 banners and protests with about a dozen boys in attendance i'm all ears.

Solutions are what is needed here.

Re: The only way forward..

Only ST can be the solution.

Anyone else Can say/do anything but only he can decide to properly start honest dialogue and get people to maybe not support him but at least accept him until a buyer decides it's time to make a move.

I don't think we're going to get honest dialogue from him tho.
