Re: Who do you want as new Utd Boss?

If McKinnon is offered the Utd job he'll take it.

One thing i don't get though is in light of just how much shit we are in finacially wtf would we pay 1 penny in compo for ANYONE to be our Manager when there will be dozen of good candidates who we could appoint who are out of work.

He's got a clause in his contract mate, won't cost much

Re: Who do you want as new Utd Boss?

If it's McKinnon then I'll be happy with that, while holding some reservations back.

I know very well the job he's done at Raith, a cracking job, and it's a similar job that we need doing, but on a bigger scale.

He is the type we need, I just worry it's too quick for him.  I wanted Jim McIntyre before, that ain't happening now, and Ray's got a lot of the same qualities I see in McIntyre.

TBH I have no idea who I'd go for personally, it's a massive decision and needs to be right.

Re: Who do you want as new Utd Boss?

My choice would have been the sheepassistant t docherty he isn't young but isn't old he is an excellent coach he is well liked and respected at Aberdeen , he would
Utd get us well organised and drilled he would require compo and might not be wiling to come to us but then again he might not want to be an assistant his whole career. But from what I can gather although Mcinnes is the face of Aberdeen its docherty that does all the heavy lifting as regards training etc

Re: Who do you want as new Utd Boss?

John Hughes for me. Tough manager. Knows the Scottish game. Has worked wonders at ICT on a small budget.

Re: Who do you want as new Utd Boss?

Would love us to try get big Duncan Ferguson get a feeling he could do well for us and would have good contacts at youth level in England to get some decent players in on loan, I know he has good job at Everton but surely he wants to be a manager in his own right, Alan Stubbs had similar job title at Everton a few years ago yet he left to take the hibs job in first division

Unfortunately the BBC are quoting him as not being interested and as much as my opinion of the BBC has plunged in the last few years it's got a long, long way to go before it plunges to the depths of Twitter.

Oh and Tommy Wright's not interested either.

Ray McKinnon saying he'll stay at Raith Rovers IF they're promoted to the Premiership.

Re: Who do you want as new Utd Boss?

Agree with Mario, if Ray is offered the United job he will accept it regardless if what division Raith are in.

I'm not certain he will be offered it but if he was he'd be crazy to turn it down, we're in our worst footing in over 50 years, despite the current turmoil around the club it should not be hard for him to make a success out of the job based on what he's done with low relative budgets to most of the clubs he's faced in the league in recent years.

What I'm trying to say is based on the current feeling around the club, the atrocious 18 months on the park, the cull of the playing staff and his lower league reputation it's a great time to take charge of United, never before have expectations been so low.

Re: Who do you want as new Utd Boss?

Raith won't get promoted that is the first point, they have a slender 1-0 lead at half time and need to go to Easter Road now. If they manage to see it out then they go against a Falkirk team bang in form and with a weeks rest. Not to mention there is still the SPFL team awaiting them after that. A bridge too far IMO

Would he take it if he gets offered it? of course he would!!!

Ffs - if you want a job done...look on the back page in Tesco

Hibs - if they "fail to hang onto Stubbs"

I'm calling this as shite - who the fuck wants Stubbs anyway

Re: Who do you want as new Utd Boss?

I like John Hughes, if by some miracle we get him as new manager I will never listen to his interview if we score shree goals.

Re: Who do you want as new Utd Boss?

Lots of commentary around RM being next manager and reasons why/why not.

When Ray was at United as a youngster I remember lots of stories of Wee Jim removing him from nightclubs etc the night before games after a curfew and generally underachieving due to burning the candle at both ends.

For me, this will be his biggest strength. From his own experience with arguably the best two British football coaches of our time. Where he screwed up.  Where he wishes he had his time again. Coaching, not managing, the Frasers, the Spttals, the Murrays (maybe the Telfers). And probably right now, the Connollys.

Re: Who do you want as new Utd Boss?

Interesting to hear Yogi in his post-match interview, being quite complimentary of United last night. Me being a daft chunt would like to read something in that. But probably no.

Re: Who do you want as new Utd Boss?

So Raith are beaten by Hibs and now out of the running for promotion.

I expect things to happen this week.
