season ticket boycott

I'm not getting one and giving Thompson the message I'm happy with his leadership.

Sickened to the core with the events of the last 15 months and god knows where it bottoms out......

Nor I, Middle Eastern Sanitary Technician. All my previous disappointments over many years supporting United do not add up to how I feel at the moment!

Re: season ticket boycott

Utterly gutted at how the season has gone. Already bought for next year.  Don't really care who the chairman is abysmal player recruitment is why we're about to be relegated.

Which is partly due to the chairman by giving mcnamara a free reign to sign duds. After he got punted the club changed the criteria for player signings........ not that it worked either

Re: season ticket boycott

I'll probably renew mine, but some form of letter of complaint is going in with it.

Clear what the main points will be, but maybe not so clear wher the finger of blame is:
Selling Stretch and GMS for sweetie money. (ST)
Selling them at the 11th hour with little ability to find suitable replacements. (ST/McNamara)
The abject failure to replace them (full stop). (ST / McNamara)
Poor performance since their departure in 2014/15 Season (McNamara)
No doing enough checks on the semi defective Bilate (ST / McNamara)
The Sneijder situation (ST / McNamara)
Darko (McNamara)
Loanees like Kuhl / Taggart who were just no good enough (McNamara)
The whole McNamara situation (ST)
The "winnae fork out for John Hughes" situation (ST)
The whole phuckin Muirhead situtation (McNamara / Mixu)
The Riski situation (ST / Mixu)
Gunning (ST / Mixu)
The Mixu situation (ST)
The sh1te performance from the team on the park for the majority of this Season brought on by the above which is likely to result in our relegation (ST / McNamara / Mixu)
The Stephen Thompson and the board situation

Dont know how comprehensive that looks, so if anychunt wants to change / add or whatever, be my guest.

Re: season ticket boycott

I get that people want to influence change by hitting the club where it hurts, and in this case they think that by starving DUFC of season ticket money will show Thompson that he's not wanted and will force him out.

In reality that's not going to happen, Thompson will only sell United (if at all) when they are in the top flight and he gets good money for his shares.

What it will mean is that we start 2016/17 on a terrible footing and will struggle for promotion at the first time of asking.

Those who are very anti Thompson may think this is a necessary evil, and that a few years in the second flight is acceptable if it means that change is enforced.

BTW - I'm not saying those who think that are wrong, these are die hard DUFC supporters and if they think this is the best course of action then fair play to them.

My family's season ticket books will be renewed in July as always.

Re: season ticket boycott

Pretty much agree with Andy. The less season ticket sales the less chance of promotion. all that makes us different from next seasons opposition , Dunfermilne Raith , Morton etc is fan base. Not renewing will affect STs inheritance but it will hit the club more. I've no wish to see years out of the top flight just so I could look back and say at least ST lost money.

I've supported United for 50 years m8, and in that time I reckon I've put £20k plus into the Club. Is that faithful enough for you.

Re: season ticket boycott

I'll probably pay more than a season ticket by paying in per game. Being a season ticket holder doesn't make you any more faithful.

Re: season ticket boycott

I'll tell you something, I have been asking fans near me at away games if they are getting a season ticket and the vast majority are saying no chance under the current conditions at our club.......these fans are the die hard faithful through and through away squad who are united to the core.

If boys like them are rebelling there is a real problem with our leadership

No, I never said that.

Talk of boycotts because you don't like what's happening at the club?

That isn't faithful through and through. Clearly.

I'm not getting into a debate about people's reasons for not renewing. That's their choice.

But being 'faithful through and through' to me, means supporting the club as you always do in good times and bad. Not boycotting.

Re: season ticket boycott

Really torn between what's best here. Definitely want Thompson to gtf out of our club but we need an alternative, urgently.

In addition the season ticket money will be a massive influence on setting our player budget for the fight to get out the Championship , should we end up there , (aye right). So any boycott as such could really fek up our squad for next season.

At the end of the day I love Dundee United , the club is a massive part of my life, so I need to do what's best for DUFC. Still pondering over this.

One things for sure though, no matter what I will be home and away next season.

Trap_6, I don't know if your comment was aimed at me. I thought it was, because your post came immediately after mine. I made it clear that I am renewing Season Ticket, but I aint a happy bunny, so I also made it clear that I was intending drawing up some kind of letter of concern.

Laying my cards on the table. I fear that a mass boycott of renewing Season Tickets - we could be playing with fire. However I aint gonna tell other supporters how to "protest", and if not renewing this Season is their choice, then I aint gonna slag them for it. It's their choice.  It's their perogative. It's their money. Just like I dinna want anybody telling me that I'm "unfaithful" because I'm thinking of putting a letter in.

I dinnae think anybody that makes some kind of protest, whatever it might be, is unfaithful. But I think we're all suffering from having less faith in the way the Club's been run.

'season ticket boycott' ....SEASON TICKET......... Doesn't mean you cant support the 'Club' Season Ticket money will just be going into the Black Hole....... Between ST, Justine, Southern and Mixu's wages that's over 1000 Season Tickets counted for. You actually think fans want to do this because they are not 'faithful through and through'??

Re: season ticket boycott

The last time Stephen Thompson was under pressure regarding a season ticket boycott was around this time four years ago, following the administration and (presently ongoing) liquidation of The Rangers FC.

ST was in favour, like most of the top league chairmen, of allowing any form of Rangers into the top league. A large number of supporters wrote to the club threatening a season ticket boycott. ArabTrust and the Fed also made representations.

Thompson changed his mind. Withdrawal of financial support (or the threat of same) seems to be the only thing which focusses the minds of people who run our football clubs.

He'll not really bother about protests at matches, again, this is not the type of action which quickly alters the thoughts of club owners. Protests at games are more likely to have the fans fighting amongst themselves. Can anyone offer examples of such actions being effective?

Fair point.

I don't agree with the idea of a boycott but questioning boys loyalty was a bit out of line. I'm just pissed off tbh.

Apologies lads.
