The 14th game of Round 1 witnessed a rare runaway victory registered in this cut-throat competition.the Oasis track that won the tie and will therefore progress through to the 2nd Round was 'Slide Away'.The three defeated tracks which are now eliminated from the tournament are acoustic number 'Sad Song', 'It's Getting Better (Man)' and B-side 'It's Good To Be Free'.

The girl in the dirty shirt, she knows exactly what she's worth to me.

I've changed my mind about 10 times.

3 of the best tracks on 'Be Here Now' and by far Liam's best song (albeit he hasn't wrote many).

It whittles down to between 'All Around The World' and 'Don't Go Away' after much much deliberation.

'All Around The World' is the longest British No.1 ever recorded at a whopping 9 minutes 38 seconds.And it's for these reasons i can't vote for it.No truly great pop record is ever over the 4 minute mark imo.They could have cut that song in half and it would have had more impact.Though it does have some great moments.That opening chord progression is absolute bliss.And the way the song keeps building up and up means it admitedly doesn't feel quite as long as 9 and a half minutes.But.....

My vote goes to 'Don't Go Away'.It was quite a departure at the time for me to hear such a straight-up 'love song' by Oasis,and one where Liam's vocals (which are one of his best ever imo) sound so fragile and without any rock snarl or pomp.I remember i was shocked further when reading about the recording of the song that Liam broke down crying in the studio and had to go away to 'sort himself out',very Un-Liam-Like behaviour.But it's that type of song...a reflective one.

Btw that middle eight was made up by Noel on the spot,totally improvised.The 'me and You...what's going on?' line.
