That's the sort of tie I'd love, away to some wee club we've hardly ever or never played. All the makings of a great day out. We'll prob get st Mirren at Tannadice.

I think we come in at the 4th round now, no?
Or is it just the 3rd round is earlier these days?

Do EK still play at the show ground bit? I remember their social club had a bit of a fire.

That's EK Thistle,Bob.They were the established Junior side in East Kilbride for years.
EKFC were established in the past 10 years and seem to be showing more ambition than Thistle.Seemingly their aim is eventually to be in a position to aim to be a pro side. Not sure if that will ever come to fruition though.Particulary as Clyde are planning to move to EK and rename themselves EK Clyde.

Sakes, Peterheid V Stranraer, probably couldn't get two further teams in the draw.
Good one for EK or Spartans too, if you're going to get a league team may as well get the worst one, at home.
Deffo one non league side in with the big boys, I'd say we could get as many as three.

Is it my imagination or do RIPFC (Sevco) always get drawn away in the earliest round they enter then thereafter always at home! Good luck Dumbarton and
Good luck EK, it would be good to see fudface (Clyde's manager) being interviewed after this tie if the East Kilbridies pull it off. The Only an excuse team rub their hands at the thought of such Cup shocks

Right, got you. It does seem to be a common thing in new towns, especially west coast - big populations and no established team.

As far as i can think Bob the only Scottish New Town to have ended up with an established team is Livingston.
Clyde of course play in Cumbernauld, but they're not really a 'Cumbernauld' team and the media still regulary refer to them under the missaprehension of being a 'Glasgow' side.
Not sure how a Pro-team in East Kilbride would do tbh.it's Scotland's joint biggest town (with Paisley) but it's right in the 'Old Firm' heartlands over here.Think it would take 20 years and a new generation growing up before they established a respectable support.

Hopefully it would take on TEK, I think more and more dads are encouraging their kids to support anyone but the OF, even if the dads themselves do/did.
I know a rabid Celtic fan in Edinburgh who brings up his two boys as Hibs fans now, and another Sevco fan who does the same with Falkirk.
I suppose its easier if they're from well outside Glasgow though.

I think if they set-up a stadium near the town centre, that'd help.
if it was built near some Industrial Estate (as these modern grounds tend to) then it might put off a few who would maybe just walk to the game at the last minute for something to do.
I reckon an EK team would one day be similiar in size to maybe Motherwell, but it would take years to establish it,i think.
Would be interesting.
