Re: Motherwell away friday

Benched.

It looked like there were words exchanged at the sending off last weekend so it may be that this will be a punishment. Have these back 3 played together yet?

Re: Motherwell away friday

Huge mistake letting mcallum go he didn't get the chances those 2 have had yet was deemed not good enough an absolutely bonkers decision
He at least had league experience at a lower level I know

Re: Motherwell away friday

Why won't he make a sub???
What the fuck is he waiting on, no chances created this half, 2-1 down 15 mins to go
Spittal and Dow both been ineffective

Re: Motherwell away friday

Not using any more subs. We must be winning then.

Re: Motherwell away friday

good first half and ref has absolutely cost us! they should have been down to ten men without a shawdow of doubt and the freekick leading to there goal is embarrassing by the ref who was shocking for both teams all night

Re: Motherwell away friday

United probably played as well as I've seen this season in the 1st half, then as bad as I've seen 2nd half. Tbf McGee clearly adapted his tactics, Mixu changed nothing really despite the fact our back 3 were struggling against their front 3 almost man for man at times. Why can't he adapt and change to a 4 and subby Donaldson or Gunning both of whom were having nightmares second half???? They sat deeper 2nd half a we couldnt play in behind. Game was too stretched and our back 3 and wing back kept getting caught. Our shape was all over the place. Poor poor stuff. Mixu must see this???

Re: Motherwell away friday

Agree LaO.  If a team is ballsy enough to play 3 up against your back 3, you have to defer and go to a 4.  It's just too high risk trying to match up.  24 points lost from winning positions.  There's our downfall right there.  Awful 2nd half.

Re: Motherwell away friday

Motherwell ripped us apart in the 2nd half.

And team who has a bit of pace and width about them tears our 3 man defence to shreds.

We looked so disjointed in that second half and for me again Mixu had no answers.Subs were too late.Could see them taking control SECONDS into the 2nd half.

Re: Motherwell away friday

We simply lack creativity up front and try to compensate for this by using our wing-backs, which leaves our defence exposed. Motherwell had acres of space down their right all game. This situation was evident during the latter half of last season and still prevails. How often have we been screaming for creative wingers?

Don't think it was a mistake mate. He's not done anything outstanding elsewhere.
Wanted him to be great but looks like he isn't.

We were crying out for a total tactical change in the 2nd half.
Players looked desperate.  Don't think they followed the plan or tactics though.

Re: Motherwell away friday

Watched the game from the Main Stand, and thought Dixon, one slice apart, had a great first half, and dreadful second. We have no width.

Motherwell's management knew to switch the play as often as possible, due to our lack of width and pace.

Rankin too was fantastic in the first half, apart from, just before the free kick they got (very soft, if at all) he launched an impossible ball rather than keep possession. Dow too, good first half, should have been off after ten of the second. Spittal, poor, but wasted out right.  Thus, we have no width.

Gunning is a bombscare. Morris is only a limp away from a major injury. The Polish keeper (!) actually made a few good stops, but at both goals had culpability.

Who else can I slag? Gord(o)(a)n Young was a winger, but doesn't see that we have no width.

And a message to the 'head coach': we have no width. Or pace.

Re: Motherwell away friday

We were the better team 1st half.  No doubt. Great strike from Henri.

Skunk McDonald should ve been off. He actually reached up we his left arm to elbow Donaldson in the pus. Mibbee this compliance chunt officer will take some action, but it wont help us.

Dow never fouled Gomis. He played the ball cleanly, even keeping his studs flat on the pitch. Poor defending for their free-kick, but Szromnik has to take some of the blame for being in no-mans-land, but a refereeing decision like that going against us in our position is deadly.

The equalizer just on half-time certainly had the desired effect from Motherwell's point of view. Whatever damage it achieved resulted in us being deflated and outplayed for most of the 2nd half,. Last 10 minutes we came to life  but ran out of time.

Mixu got the formation wrong IMO. Motherwell took full advantage of us having just 3 at the back in the 2nd half, with all the extra space and easier passage into the box that it gives.

Stunned if I'm honest.

Re: Motherwell away friday

I was surprised when Dow was involved in  the so-called foul. Surprised, not so much by the ref's decision, but by the fact that Dow was playing! Up to that point I never even heard his name mentioned....

Re: Motherwell away friday

2nd half last night was shambolic, not 1 of them turned up.  1st half we did OK, gave chances away, but created also, it's not enough tho if we're gonna play like that 2nd half.

Dixon was dreadful throughout and Dow was his usual anonymous self. Defence were all over the shop and the keepers just crap.

Re: Motherwell away friday

Ive been waiting 10 years for somebody to put in that tackle on Lasley Well done Callum Morris. We need to kick our way to safety, if its based on skill and technique were gone.
