The Bosman Rule and The European Union ???

Don't want this to get political it's just a football related question,
If Britain comes out of the EU  will the Bosman rule be enforceable?
I may be wrong but I'm sure this was passed in the mid 90's by the European Court
I don't know how that would work, obviously hypothetical at the moment but just wondering if any of our fine scholars who use this board could shed some light on this?

I don't know a lot, but I know what I like!

Re: The Bosman Rule and The European Union ???

Bosman has probably had more of a negative effect on football and footballers than was originally intended, so it would be good to think it might be at least be heavily tweaked twenty years on.

However, doubt very much if Britain will come out of the EU: big business/USA don't want that, so it won't happen.

Re: The Bosman Rule and The European Union ???

I'm guessing that even though it is a ruling that came out of the EU, UEFA adopted it so all of its associatins and member clubs have to abide by it. So even if the UK voted to leave, it wouldn't make any difference.

Too much commotion

Re: The Bosman Rule and The European Union ???

It would be totally wrong to ignore the Bosman ruling.

While it has made football more difficult for clubs like ours, it was the correct decision.

The next one (I Fear) will also be right and will see transfer fees go altogether and will see a lot of part time football clubs appear.
