Utd v Hearts - 20/2/16

It's almost impossible to pick a team these days. I definitely don't want to see Gunning again.Last night made up my mind. Watch him at their 3rd goal. Weak half hearted challenge on McDonald miles out of position and then weak half hearted jog after him. McDonald is 34 or something and out paces him WITH the ball at his feet. Fuck off Gav. I'd truly rather play Durnan. Sure he might be poor but at least he seems to give 100%.

It's also hard to envisage Mckay doing anything of note again in a Utd Jersey. I thought take away his penalties he'd generally been a dissapointment anyway (missed so many gilt edged one on one's in vital games) but since his family bereavement he just seems like he'd rather be anywhere than at Utd and looks to have chucked in the towel.

So in short I have no real clue what team we should play... but I'll go for this.

Kawashima

Dillon
Durnan
Donaldson

Spittal
Paton
Fraser
Rankin
Erskine

Murray
Muirhead

Subs -

Zwick
Dixon
Ofere
Mckay
Knoyle
FSP
Gunning

Re: Utd v Hearts - 20/2/16

I don't mind 3 at the back in general, we can't play it tho.

I'd Go
.                          Kawa
Knoyle.  Donaldson.    Durnan.   Dillon
Spittal.       Paton.        Rankin.    Fraser
                 Murray.       Muirhead

Zwick
Souttar
Johnson
Dixon
Ofere
+ another 2 from the dev squad

Erskine, Dow, Demel, FSP, McKay, Bodul, Szromnik, and especially Gunning can all just fuck off now, they're all either uninterested, shite or both.  Not interested in guys like that pulling on the jersey anymore.

Re: Utd v Hearts - 20/2/16

I see you've all dropped Demel - he's not injured again is he? Was he that bad on Tuesday night? ( I was taking my folks to the airport for 3 weeks in Tenerife - wish I'd jumped on the plane too). Seems obvious to me that as good as Demel was/is he was never going to be able to play 2 games in that short space of time at his age and level of fitness - especially after a punishing 90 mins on an artificial pitch.
Whoever gets picked on Saturday - let's really get behind the team - they must be rock bottom with the chairman trying to deflect blame on to them. That doesn't help the cause. Protests before or after the game or directed at the guys upstairs during the game.
My team :

Kawashima
Donaldson
Durnan
Dillon
Demel (DMC)
Spittal (LM/LW)
Rankin CM
Paton CM
Dow RM/RW
Ofere CF
Murray CF

Subs: Zwick, Muirhead, Fraser, McKay, Johnson, Pongolle  and any others - except Gunning and Dixon who just cant cut it anymore - or need a rocket that nobody seems to give them

Excellent critique of GG Tek, wanted to post similar but still clinically unable to criticise almost anything United (but that is changing). On the night I stupidly thought he played quite well because he was winning all his challenges, but they were mainly in non-threatening positions. Analysed the highlights and, fuck me, he was at fault for all three goals. 1st goal he starts off with McManus until a gentle block, 2nd he lays it on for McDonald and the least said about the 3rd the better.

Re: Utd v Hearts - 20/2/16

I'm going to give the defence the benefit of the doubt and call Tuesday a bad day at the office. Forward areas need changed though and Demel needs to move the ball quicker cos he can't carry it

              Kawashima
Donaldson gunning Dillon
             Paton demel
Spittal                        Rankin

        Fsp
Murray Anier (I think he should get a run out, can't be any worse)

Re: Utd v Hearts - 20/2/16

I just want an honest hard working performance from everyone, and FOUR FOUR FUCKING TWO.

Hearts are a good side, I've seen them a few times this season at Tynecastle on work things and they are really good down the flanks but actually a bit soft in the middle, and without Sow there are definitely less of a threat up top.  Their main game plan when I've seen them was move the ball down both wings then cross to the big man in the middle for either a shot at goal or a knock down - which although seen as primitive these days is a pretty good tactic if you ask me!!

I think if we play wing backs tomorrow we'll get murdered.

...............Kawashima................

Knoyle  Donaldson  Durnan  Dixon

Spittal    Paton    Fraser   Rankin

............Murray   Ofere................

The  boy that replaced Sow is a player like. Pretty sure I seen him vs us in Arnhem during pre season.

As said previously I agree with Andy, the back 4 of Knoyle , Donaldson , Durnan and Dixon .Anything is worth a try as Gunning is finished and Dillon words fail me regarding his recent displays

Re: Utd v Hearts - 20/2/16

Interesting to see what route Mixu goes today. If he makes some changes and puts enough attack minded individuals on the park with a formation which allows attack, then I think we'll see the right type of reaction.

If he sticks almost same again in line-up and formation, it's gonna be an unpleasant day all round I think.

Hoping for the 1st obviously, he surely isn't that daft to just 'bury his head in the sand' and go again is he.

I'm in hospitality for a rare visit there, so I hope some of the day is pleasant.

But with the same central defenders to choose from, and no width, reckon we are going to toil again.

Mixu surely won't be here in the long term, in the last few weeks a players' meeting forced him to go two up front, then this week a senior figure announces that fellow players aren't giving 100%.

The manager has lost the poorly balanced squad we have.

Re: Utd v Hearts - 20/2/16

Hearts are a big, strong team. If they play an organised and tight game, we do nor possess the creativity up front to carve them open. Hoping for the best, fearing for the worst!

Re: Utd v Hearts - 20/2/16

Pat, I'm not sure he ever had the squad.  I'm hoping it's a collective GIRFUY to ST today tho. I want them to prove me wrong too, desperately.

Anyway whatever happens u have a good day out bud.

Spittal and Fraser played in the right positions and having good days are our only hope.  They're the only genuine creativity we have.

Ridiculous that two young laddies are our only hope.

I agree. I had not overlooked this, but they cannot match Hearts' physical attributes. As yet they are too weak and what assets they do have are more often flashes in the pan.

Hopefully at least one change on the bench, Mixu missing would be good. We might win.

Re: Utd v Hearts - 20/2/16

Well it's just the 2 defensive mids, I suppose so just the 7 defensively positioned players instead of 8 like Tuesday.

Gunning still playing tho, is a fucking joke.

Predictions changed, we're gonna get pumped.
