Nothing we didn't already know.

Statements pathetic, what does he hope it'll achieve.

Mmmm if I'm being cynical this is a classic - "I'm just as upset as you are so don't blame me" routine. I think if you're going to have that dialogue then you need to go further. We sold x,y and z because we needed the money for 1,2 and 3 and this saved us from blaa blaa blaa. Fans of smaller clubs know this is the reality. The board have sold players, which wrecked a team, and knackered a rare chance at silverware, then with that money had to pay off a management team, decided to hire some players with big reputations or former reputations), flirted with some solid prospective managers but then went for a cheap option; a man that had a place in the heart of the fans and wouldn't rock the boat [remember the change in title Head Coach - not Manager], got rid of the young talent we were nurturing, got rid of the guy who was finding that talent in bizarre circumstances etc etc.
The board presumably are earning top dollar - the statement admits they made mistakes - those experienced professionals that directed the club the wrong way have to go then.
They allowed certain things to happen and the result is a team with some high earning individuals that can't perform and have led us to almost certain relegation and the financial difficulties that this brings. I think the current joke doing the rounds is that Hibs have beaten more Premiership teams than we have. That's unacceptable. What was Southern's remit? Did he stand up and say STOP this isn't right. If he didn't then he should go. If he did and was over-ruled then we need to know.
This is our club, the fans should raise money and get a stake in the club. We need to protect what is ours.

"The board and myself have made certain decisions in the last eighteen months which in hindsight were incorrect"
David Southern has been at the club only marginally longer than this. I think he may well be taking the rap here.

Aye???
My understanding is that the GM merely puts into practice the decisions of the Chairman and the Board, ie he is NOT a party to the decision making processes.

I'm not pointing the finger of blame at Southern: I'm saying the Chairman is doing so, Mr Twat.

Get him to fuck.
I'd agree he appears to be a wasted wage, bowers. Reckon he's a goner at the end of the season, if not before. Sacrificial lamb.

I think the chairman is being very clever here.
He's holding his hands up, saying he's made mistakes which have harmed us. However he's saying that despite his mistakes he's backed both managers, paid the players a lot of money and they have fucked up time and time again.
This is him saying heads will roll, there will be changes from near top to bottom but he is not going anywhere.

Aye, him saying I'm allowed to make mistakes but no one else can. Pathetic.
Online!
Too little too late Mr Thompson.
If you had issued this statement about Spring-Summer 2015 you may have been able to win back some support and an attempt at galvanising the club would have been noted.
Instead you chose to blank your own support like a petulant child who was going home with his ball and you are only doing Arabzone interviews and issuing statements now because your tenure is starting to resemble 'The Last days of Rome' and you are anxiously trying to deflect blame in some desperate attempt to cling-on to power.
Nero played the fiddle as he watched the fire he started burn his great city and then deflected the blame onto the Christians having them thrown to the Lions in sacrifice.
I wonder when the dust settles who you will blame?Jmac?Mixu? The players? The FED?
All of the above?

What Andysays!!
The chairman's last sentence is garbage. It was all unacceptable well before last night.
HE CANNOT ABDICATE HIS RESPONSIBILITY. The apology is hollow.
Edit to add What TEK says as well. Just read that!

He's clever ahright. He says "we made mistakes" as in we collectively, the Board, the Club, whatever, but he never actually admits that he himself (excludes the use of the word I ).
Tek, he'll be in Cafe Nero playing his violin while we burn.

This, for me, and the statement probably scripted on the advice/direction of some well paid PR/spin doctor prick.

Most definitely all of the above, and probably a good few others.

Its up to the fans to stand together and not let Thompson weasel his way out of the mess he is compliant in, he must go and we should help him on his way.

Sit-in after the game Saturday. They'll come a point in time when stewards will tell us to leave. Tell them to p1ss off and were no leaving till Thompson appears. They can easy get on their walkie-talkies and pass on the message. If he's got any bottle, he can come oot we a PA mike if he's got anything to say.

That is the best protest idea I've heard so far. Only thing is everyone will have left by the hour mark!

Following on from what Andy was saying about ST being clever.
He doesna say "I apologise.....". He says "I would like to apologise....". No much difference you might say.
Well compare "I own a Ferrari" with "I would like to own a Ferrari", or "I sh@g the neighbours wife" with "I would like to sh@g the neighbours wife".
Mibbee just nitpicking like.
