Is it really on the up that much or is this just the police getting in first as there's been talk of trialing alcohol in grounds again and clubs trying police-less games?
Wonder if DUFC were 1 of the clubs with an "active" hooligan element, prob that standing section's been counted in.

You've hit the nail on the head.
The Polis are scared to lose their cash cow.
Hooliganism is not on the rise. They're blowing it out of all proportion.

Don't pay too much attention to the media- has it been reported that hooliganism is on the rise?

Yeah there was a bit on Reporting Scotland earlier.
Some guy from Police Scotland being interviewed and statements from the SPFL etc etc.
Lotta shite.

Hink the boy at the bottom of the BBC article summed it up well saying the police are trying to pass off a few young guys wearing designer gear, pulling a few high jinks at away days as hooliganism.
Police are a fucking disgrace anyway, eh mind a few of us getting stuck in a bit of a rammy outside Hampden at the 08 cup final with the Rangers fans after a young boy got bottled by ane of the currant buns. 6 police standing there and not one of them moved a muscle, shite bags to a man and seen it plenty of times since . Could probably run most fitba games with out them being there and it would make nae difference.

Naughtiness in the form of standing and smoke bombs is on the rise versus the sit down shut up and be controlled efforts fae the polis.
On the radio they claimed 28 out of 42 clubs have organised hooligan gangs/casuals.
If casuals are on the way back in force I'd be surprised if any regular home and away fans think the same.
And by the way there is a difference between smoke bombs and flares that most complaining about neglect to differentiate between.
My 11 year old wee lassie and her pals were happily sold smoke bombs at paintballing but would never be allowed to touch or buy flares.
Media love to jump on death by Stone Island badge, smoke bomb and fervent supporter styles. Fuck off and worry about something worth worrying about for fuck sake.

A Rangers supporting mum told me she stopped going to the fitba after witnessing an Aberdeen fan being heedered by a zombie after a defeat and being lifted in Glasgow for being knocked into a garden where he had no right to be as the polis told him. She said the guy was harmless and didn't provoke a thing but was arrested.

Glad it's not just me that thinks this is just the police at it.
I grew up going in the 80s and looking back it was horrendous, but I just thought it was normal. I know a few boys who were heavily involved and tbh still are, but it's not the same. 28 out of 42 clubs have organised groups with another 7 who have individuals who are on a list somewhere, what a lot of shite.
Pisses me off that being a football supporter makes u fair game for discrimination from the authorities. Can we claim to be a minority group and claim victimisation?
Mad thing is the report was all about organised groups meeting up 2/3 hours before games for a scrap miles from the ground, what has that got to do with football, it's not at or near the game.

Biggest lot of shite ever. Just trying to justify new legislation they want to bring out. Hooliganism is not on the rise again
If you went and asked the FOCUS officer for utd/dundee he would proberly tell you the same. He diesnt exactky have the hardest of jobs.

IMO I don't think it is on the rise, I think they are trying to shift attention from the fact that they do fuck all in regards to 'Sectarianism' in Scottish football, so it looks like they are trying to justify themselves by going after easier targets.

It's near the end of the financial year and budgets have to be set for the new year. Police Scotland pump this out every year to justify their budget for this.
They totally undermined their own point by showing CCTV footage from over 10 years ago!

Just a thought - I was at Millwall v Scunthorpe on Tuesday night and at half time, there was a range of over-priced beers and ciders for sale - all 303ml bottles, transferred into plastic cups....(£4.30)
Surely if they can have a civil drink at Millwall at half time, then the likes of united/ICT/Hamilton could!
On a separate note, had the best pie I've ever had at football - £3.10 for a deep filled steak and ale pie - lots of big chunks of meat, a good amount of gravy and pastry that is nicely cooked!

Lotta shite, theyre just scared they lose the over the top money football clubs pay for unnessasary policing.
Maybe focus on sectarianism, which Is here. Was here. And will always be here.
