The Squad now

So basically we have now,

.                         Kawashima
       Durnan.         Dillon.        Gunning
Spittal.        Paton.         Demel.          Rankin
                             Dow
               Murray.            McKay
Subs.    Zwick, Dixon, Knoyle, Muirhead, Fraser, Riski, Donaldson

Anier, Morris, FSP, Bodul, Erskine & Szromnik

As a first team squad, the last 3 of which will not be involved, I think, while there are still some good players in there, there's not enough.

Not only that but with all the young lads that's been released, you now look at the dev squad and say who's nearly ready to step up and it's maybe only Souttar jnr.

Does anyone really believe this squad can make up 11 points on the teams above?

With that back three, no.

We need (a) central defender(s).

Only one outcome after yesterday's events

Re: The Squad now

A bit of a loaded question.

I'd rather take a more positive outlook. Most of that team swept Kilmarnock aside with ease and if that's the level of performance we can expect then yes, I do believe we can make up the gap.

Looking at some individual players;
Kawashima - Maybe not quite as good as we'd hoped, but definitely better than the two young lads
Donaldson - seems to be steady enough and not as much of a bombscare as Durnan
Spittal - Improving with confidence and probably one of our best players
Paton - had a great game v Killie and could make a massive difference
Rankin - see above. A revelation on the left hand side
Dow - Looked good, albeit against a poor team. Linked well with McKay and Murray
McKay - Quality player, will definitely get goals
Anier - I'm still hopeful he's a player. Should be fitter and more confident after the spell at Hibs
FSP - 50/50. If he can play most games then we're on to a winner.

IMO, it's not all doom and gloom. The window is now shut, we have a team, let's support them.

Re: The Squad now

I wonder how the players will take the lack of signings?

Ideally they take confidence from it, thinking the gaffer trusts them to play every week and get us out of the shit?

Alternatively they think Ffs, we've sold decent players and not replaced them, if the chairman is planning for relegation then so should I - "agent, get St Johnstone on the phone....."

Re: The Squad now

9 or 10 of those left are away at the end of the season anyway.  Guess we'll pretty much have got the clear out everyone was after, just forgot to bring in adequate replacements.
