Spiers and Haggerty sacked from the Glasgow Herald

See how the SFA enjoy the 'bringing the game into disrepute' charge?

I see that a club based at Ibrox has put pressure on the Herald newspaper to sack a couple of journalist, the Herald duly doing so. Also, they have banned a BBC journalist from the ground, leading to a (supposed) boycott of home games at Ibrox.

Seems it's okay, though, to cause folk to lose their livelihoods.

I'd say this is worse by some distance than the likes of Griffiths singing a song about Skacel, or a manager criticising a referee or another club, like Kenny Shiels quite a few times. In all honesty, who does that hurt?

While I'm at at, what about one club criticising another club's player on their official website?

http://www.celticfc.net/news/7817

The SFA ignored this, one club trying to officially get another player a ban, with the resultant loss of wages that would bring.

Acht, that's enough moaning for now.....................

Pat I've moved your post into here also...felt this deserved a thread of it's own.

great post, right on the money.

check out the link below, yet rangers were cheating for years and the SFA did nothing.

Aye, that's right, Craig Levein fined £5000 for telling the truth: even McCurry admitted two of his major 'honest mistakes' in the SFA Whistleblowers blog.  http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/d/dundee_utd/7393800.stm

So, if you are correct and honest, you are 'bringing the game into disrepute', while if you extensively cheat, ignore the SFA rules and get folk the sack, that's quite okay.

If we stay up (and I'm confident we will) and Sevco come up, I'll be seriously considering whether to bother parting with cash to watch the SFA bend over and allow further cheating and corruption in the top league.

Re: Spiers and Haggerty sacked from the Glasgow Herald

until the rest of Scottish football grow some balls then the"old firm" will continue to do whatever they want.

Personally I'd be in favour of the rest of the clubs walking away and forming a 40 club 2 tier set up, regardless of the lack of money coming in, the quality may slip, clubs would have to cut their squads etc, we'd maybe not get to play in Europe as the SFA wouldn't back it and therefore it'd be an "illegal" league in FIFAs eyes. But even with all that it could be built back up and it would be fair and without the poison of the Glasgow 2.

What would happen to them?  I couldn't give a fuck.

Nice to dream

  • CELTIC Football Club notes that no action appears to have been taken in relation to Calum Butcher of Dundee United.  It seems completely illogical and fundamentally unfair that, in an incident where mistaken identity has been claimed, the Dundee United player now identified clearly as being involved in the incident appears to have no case to answer - and would be available to play in the League Cup final and the Scottish Cup replay between the two teams - while Celtic’s player may potentially miss both of those matches.Celtic Football Club and Virgil van Dijk maintain their position that no red card offence was committed by Virgil.Virgil will appear at Hampden to put his case on Thursday and we will fully support him in this appeal."
