If yer logged in yer mair likely to post. If it's hard to read you might loose potential posters.
No sure what's best TBH.
Maist who jumped over here did so fae MAD to get away fae folk that annoyed them and bored them with tit for tat and repetitive pish, folk looking for an argument UTD or not and the self obsessed.
Recon that the real reason posts are down is due to the longest running bad form, bad running of the club and circus style situation when your clientele are the more positive type of fan.
Bad times right now will return to normal sometime soonish.
You have a decent 100 plus posters who contribute out of 239 and might have more if logging in is compulsory. Mad have near 7000 v the the same ish regular lads with a different vibe.
The attraction here is to talk and share Utd feelings and winding up isn't the reason to log in.
That's what I want.

Have it put down, and get a cat!

Seriously, though: I guess that's why most of us here left MAD in the first place. I just got sick of reading same old same old all the time. And the level of attacking other posters was ridiculous. I don't see the point reading all that again. Much better here.

Defo think having to sign up to read the contents would be a good thing.

I don't know if a members only board would increase traffic TEK, I guess the hope with an open board is that regular viewers finally take the dip to post and sign up, making it members would stop that.
Your call bud, in one way you've nothing to lose. The posters now are all members, so they will continue to post. If you make it members only hopefully some regular viewers will sign up and post? Perhaps those who are a bit shy about posting might be more inclined to do so in a private forum?
I think the biggest threat to forums now is twitter. There seems to be long conversations on multiple topics every day with regular participants.

maybe a couple of new boards here:
a private board, say you need 700 posts to see It?

There's no facility for that Rodge, other than making the whole Forum private.
Which is what I'm swaying towards bud.

Personally think it's quieter due to our present situation but, FWIW, this is the best Utd forum by a country mile.

You will know the rate at which new posters join Tek, over a particular period, excluding the initial surge. You could of course have a trial period of making the Forum private, to comoare the number of new posters over a similar particular period.

You know what annoys me about this place, and United fans in general, is that when we lose all hell breaks loose, you can't keep up with the amount of posts.
Get a great win like Saturday and its like a morgue in here.

You have a point Andy.
Have to take it a game at a time, we probably know the end game for this season but doesn't mean to say we can't enjoy the small victories. God knows they have been few and far between.
