Re: Dundee United v Celtic Friday 15 January 2016 @ 1945

Dillon's not as bad as gets made out, but there are flaws in his game, main one being his head goes down too easily which then affects his performance even more.

No one is strolling games for us just now, if they were we wouldn't be miles clear at the bottom of the league.

Anyone else think we'll nick something out of this?

Sensing a Darren Dods moment coming up.

Re: Dundee United v Celtic Friday 15 January 2016 @ 1945

The rumour doing the rounds on Twitter is that Billy McKay has sadly suffered a family bereavement and will therefore miss tonight's match.

Might not be a bad thing if true tbh.

Take away his penalties and he's missed a helluva lot of gilt-edged chances for us in the past wee while.Gives him a much needed break and also let's us try something a bit different.

Muirhead and Riski upfront would be interesting.Or Muirhead and Murray even.

Defence is chronic anyway.May aswell go down fighting and have a go tonight.

Re: Dundee United v Celtic Friday 15 January 2016 @ 1945

Mixu has to be more positive, not just tonight but in every game from here on in.
We can't afford the isolation McKays suffered up top alone any longer, he gets so frustrated you see him dropping deeper and deeper just to get involved which doesn't help either.

Obviously a shame for McKay if true.

Throw Muirhead in with Riski.

If true then his closing down and work rate and his pace will give Ambrose the fear. The rest of the team will need to press higher up though to benefit.

Re: Dundee United v Celtic Friday 15 January 2016 @ 1945

Souttar and Murray both starting apparently. And yes,Murray is the lone striker (ffs).

I's hazard a guess the team must be.

Kawashima

McGowan
Dillon
Gunning
Dixon

Spittal
Souttar
Fraser
Rankin
Erskine

Murray

Murray alone upfront? Was gonna get up early to watch (5am) but getting rubber eared now. We're not even go down fighting. Losing faith in Mixu by the week.

Re: Dundee United v Celtic Friday 15 January 2016 @ 1945

I'm happy Murray is starting however I would rather he played in a two, no matter what you say about Murray he will give 110% every game and with the way the celtic defence is playing he could thrive tonight, putting them under loads of pressure and making them make mistakes!

Agreed. If he had help. Pissing in the wind on his own.

Re: Dundee United v Celtic Friday 15 January 2016 @ 1945

If Tek's line up is right, I'd think maybe it is two up from as Riski looked comfortable through the middle seeking out spaces.

However, the midfield looks to lack dig, no matter who is in there, and why we haven't yet tried to bring in reinforcements at the back puzzles me. With better defenders we struggled against Celtic, so I don't expect any other outcome tonight. The only thing that puzzles me more is why I am going.

F'n cold too: won't be too many sitting on a plastic seat in these temperatures.

Re: Dundee United v Celtic Friday 15 January 2016 @ 1945

If that's the starting 11 then it'll be

.           Kawa
   McGowan. Dillon Gunning
Spittal. Souttar. Rankin. Dixon
            Riski.     Fraser.
                 Murray

Same formation As usual.

Re: Dundee United v Celtic Friday 15 January 2016 @ 1945

Whats really imperative is that our defenders are aware of Griffiths from the off.
Probably see GMS, Allan and Armstrogn all playing to rub it in our faces, the bastards.
