The penultimate match of Round 1 witnessed an easy victory registered for one of The Kinks best loved tracks 'Sunny Afternoon'.It's 5 votes were enough to see it win the tie handsomely and it will now as a consequence progress through to the last 8 of the tournament.The three tracks eliminated at the first hurdle are 'Picture Book', 'This Time Tomorrow' and No.1 hit UK single 'Tired of Waiting For You'.The latter being the only other track that registered a vote.

'Drivin' nearly made it in to the 32 Pat.

And this track also from Arthur came even closer still.

Think the reason i only had the 2 tracks from that album (the 2 singles that charted) is because although there are undoubtedly great tracks on it,as is the case with most 'concept' albums it to me runs quite seemlessly.Like one big long track,or a movie soundtrack or a big musical story or...ach you probably catch my drift.

I also had a couple of tracks from Village Green Preservaton Society i really wanted in...namely

Actually,i could quite happily included every track on that Album...it's so melodic,so perfect.

I also found it quite hard to keep out..this.

Oh and this.....

And probably a few others that have escaped my mind at the moment.Hopefully i got the 32 right...it wasn't as easy i thought it would be.What a formidable back catalogue they had.

After an absolute mindfuck of a decision i've decided to opt for Where Have All the Good Times Gone?

That was The Kinks in their absolute early Mod-Era strutting best.Fucking LOVE IT.

Essentially an old Blues type song but that great reverb sound their early hits had and the fast tempo and great drumming of Mick Avory make it still sound to this day vital,young,sexy and with a slightly provocative/defiant message at it's core.

One of my favourite Kinks tracks.
