Mcgowan be away this month.
Souttar also.
Cant see hull taking spittal though
United would be crazy to sell McGowan.
Cannot see that happening.

Who would pay anything serious for him when he has 5 months left on his deal?

Well if they want him in.before there season starts they have no choice really

If we got offered anything over 150k for McGowan I'd sell him. He's been here for a year and the defence has got worse. I'm not saying he's solely responsible but he's equally as culpable

Now say Keith Watson was better....say it!

150k for a player with months left on his deal and is part of a defence who leak goals like the Rangers leak money, not a chance, if that was on the table I still think United would turn it down at this particular moment.

I'm not sure he was but at least Watson notched the occasional goal and didn't annoy me on Twitter.
We could have got a cheaper player and probably a better right back.

The interest in the Young Airdrie keeper was mentioned again last night in one or two places.
Two other rumours this morning.
1.Hull interested in Spittal.
2.Brentford interested in Souttar (John).
Can't help but think the keeper pursuit is with a view to the championship next year, Kawa will be away in summer and the other 2 aren't close to being good enough.
Wouldn't let Spittal go, been our best player this season, despite the opinions of quite a few on here.
Souttar, I Rate v highly, but I Think for his sake he needs to go, McNamaras use of and handling of him has set him back 2 years. It surely won't be Brentford though.
I don't have much time for McNamara but I wouldn't blame Souttar's attitude on him.
Never said anything about his attitude.
The progress of several young players in our squad stalled/went backwards during McNamaras time in charge. Possibly due to the lack of tactical awareness of the management team, possibly due to shite training, possibly due to the couldn't give a shit attitude of the management team , possibly due to the fact that McNamara was only interested in how much he could pocket from each of them, or possibly it's all just coincidence that their progress all stalled at the same time and it was nothing to do with McNamara and he was actually good at his job after all.

Regarding a Spanish, or any, trialist, I'd have hoped we were more advanced in our signing plans than bringing in trialists.

McGowan is very overrated by a lot of Utd fans, not saying he's a bad player, but some seem to think he's Cafu.
Watson at his best was just as good, wasn't at his best often enough tho.

That's a fair assessment. It's the overreaction to McGowan that probably makes me go the other way. I'm very frustrated with him.
He is double the wages of Watson and I honestly expected a lot more from him.
Can't question his attitude, he's just not enough of an upgrade to merit the cost and the levels of praise.
Plus keef loved a goal

I have a feeling he could be going on trial with Dundee instead of us just a hunch

To me McGowan looks a decent CH, but RB - not for me, does his best but doesn't convince going forward.
Happy for him to play in heart of defence but wouldn't greet if he went for decent money and we replaced him with a proper RB

He'd be good to see in a back 4, right sided CH.
Like you say, doesn't have the pace of a full back, but he is decent in the air, strong in the tackle and a decent size as well.
I don't like the 3 at the back but I think Mixu plays it as we her no natural width.
If he gets some creativity in we might see 4 at the back with McGowan in there.
Be better than relying on Morris as he is the most injured ch since Scott Patterson!

Looking at his level of sucess and struggles, I'm relieved.
Was wondering why we were after this lad.
Wondered what could be so good about a 26 year old striker other than helping a team get promotion that punted him out after which saw form slump.
Might be decent bit hoping for more promising signings.

Cross wires here, I never said you mentioned Souttars attitude, it was I who called him on it. McNamara gave Souttar numerous chances (too many IMO) to prove himself in various positions but he failed in them all,

IMO that's more down to McNamaras use of and handling of him rather than the boy himself, it's no coincidence that so many boys went backwards during his spell in charge is it?

I'm not sure that many went backwards, I think it was more they excelled in a two month period then went back to what they were/are.
