Relegation blessing in disguise

This might sound ridiculous but could us getting relegated be a blessing in disguise as I'm sure we would get rid of most of the wage thiefs and virtually starting again, look at hearts they totally restarted and there miles ahead of us! Just a thought

No, there would be nothing good about relegation whatsoever, zero! What saddens me is that you and a few others are sounding like you're accepting that going down is a given. I'm not pushing the panic button just yet. But I am getting there. Grim times.

This might sound ridiculous, but FFS Super Mario:

So called supporters like you are just feeding the fire of negativity and you'd be better staying away and saying nothing until the good times return.  I'd suggest no-one is thieving wages at Tannadice.  There are plenty people making bad decisions and under-performing there though, but to say they are thieving wages is a bit much.  You were on the ball with the Kawashima scoop, so I'm not going to insult you as to your United credentials, but don't you realise that all your negativity just leads to more nervousness and thus more mistakes?

The goals conceded on Saturday were carbon copies of each other and were totally avoidable.  On the first, Rankin and McGowan fail to react and close down the wide player and Gunning fails to judge the flight of the cross.  On the second, McGowan's shite clearance allows ICT to come right back at us, Souttar fails to react and close down the wide player and Snromnik fails to judge the flight of the ball and stupidly tries to catch the ball instead of punching.  In spite of this, I was reading the eternal optimist Shedka blaming Durnan last night!!! Durnan has obviously had a baptism of fire this season, but can we try dealing in facts please?

In each of our last 4 games there have been individual errors like that and IMO we could just have easily had 10 points out of those games, so we have to focus on the fact we are capable of going on a run.  The goalie situation is our biggest problem, as was seen yesterday by Liverpool having Bogdan making a rare appearance for them.  A defence need to be able to trust their goalie or they play like jelly.

If we go down, we will deserve to go down and we'll all just have to take it and the slagging fest that will come all our ways on our respective chins.  The Chairman in his wallet is the only person who will be in real trouble over this if I'm being honest though, as I'll still support United regardless.

So how about it Super Mario, how about a New Years Resolution starting now, that you will just channel all your negative energies into trying to get us to a play off slot at worst?

100% agree with all that FKT. Yes things are grim at the moment but now is the time when the team the support of the fans. We need some fight on and off the pitch not waving the white handkerchief behaviour, show some back bone man

Re: Relegation blessing in disguise

We aren't St Mirren though. If we do go down, which I think we might do. The Championship will be minus HIBS and Sevco hopefully. We'd be the biggest side by a considerable margin. Coming right back up isn't a given but I'd expect us too.

As far as I can remember, getting relegated in 95 was fucking awful but the season in the First Division was exciting ending in that memorable play off.

FWIW though I do obviously hope we stay up. It's starting to look like our best chance is Killie and a play off spot though

Re: Relegation blessing in disguise

positives of getting relegated:

1. fans get to visit new places next season
2. easier to bring in young players as less pressure (this one is debatable, firstly surely they must learn more from playing against better players, and secondly a must win for promotion game is higher stakes than a mid table premiership game so more pressure)

negatives of getting relegated:

1. the horrendous financial impact. less money from TV, prize money, season tickets, visiting fans. Only the people running the club know the true impact of this
2. The pain, frustration and misery for the true fans who spend their time and money following the team to watch us lose every week continuing
3. The inevitable daily record exclusive "i'd have kept arabs up" says jackie mcnamara
4. The complete and utter minter of dundee being a league above us
5. the minter of partick thistle nil, hamilton accies, ross county, inverness, st johnstone being a league above us
6. harder to attract good players
7. the astonishingly bad refereeing getting worse (assumption)
8. a trip to boghead and the flashbacks for anyone who was there in 95
9. the poor bastard who gets caught on camera crying and broadcast around the country the day it happens
10. the digs from the united hating media - hately, keith jackson, derek johnstone, chick young, murdo mcleod
11. a massive low point in thhe clubs history that is so self inflicted - selling GMS and Armstrong to celtic = self inflictied. starting the season with three inexperienced keeper = self inflicted. buying muirhead for good money, then loaning him out to thistle to score goals which could relegate us = self inflicted.   giving jackie an incentive to weaken the first team  at his own benefit self inflicted
12. explaining relegation to the weans
13. re-explaining it to the wife
14. the moment you go bbc football > scottish premiership and then  realize why there's nothing about united
15. the very real prospect that the levein/houston days are the modern day halcyon days, and our future is a promotion/relegation battle every year due to selling too many players
16. we start scottish cup earlier and draw a minnow like burnt island shipyard or huntly ( to be fair, i admire these clubs and think the cup brings a lot of positives, it's just the muppets in the media who would make it painful)
17. Sir James Yule McLean possibly passing away soon with our club in a lower division
18. Scottish cup 2014 being our last chance for a long time to win a trophy, emphasizing the epic fuck up by jackie and a few others
19. someone blaming the united fans for it
20. reading the fixture list for next season

so, no, it's not a blessing. everyone should be focusing on survival
