Re: Eiji Kawashima

Mixu in the press today saying he has done the test.
The delay is due to the holiday season.

Maybe cut the club some slack as I'm sure they are just as frustrated as us.

Re: Eiji Kawashima

Cut the club some slack?

Do you think in the current state we are in we should be waiting this length of time to sign someone?

The deal should have been knocked on head weeks ago and another target approatched.

Re: Eiji Kawashima

I would say the club didn't expect it to take this long.
That was a reasonable expectation.
Once it started taking too long, we were fully bought into signing him.

I don't think there were many targets of this calibre around at this time of year outside the window.

Work permits etc. Aren't a case of - everything is straightforward because I saw it online. I've been through these systems with multi nationals handling it and they never go as straightforward as they claim.

Who should we have went for?

You're probably better than what we have at the moment - doesn't make it a good idea

It wouldn't have taken half the time if someone did their research.  Just ask someone what forms were needed. Nobody thought to ask? Amateur.

Re: Eiji Kawashima

That's just not true, the biggest delay was at the home office. There is nothing United could have done to accelerate that. Nor the sfa approval.
Mixu says the test has been done already.
Please tell me where the 50% reduction is coming from??

Re: Eiji Kawashima

Houston we have wanted this guy since October and now he will not play before the 2nd week in January, the club must shoulder a huge amount of blame for not doing some thorough homework on this situation.

Sadly this farce has cost us dearly.

Festive season might be a fair enough explanation.
Japan don't really celebrate it as a proper Christian Christmas so I just called it the holiday season as that's what it is over there

That's a fair enough assessment mate.
Fact of the matter is fuck all the club could do to speed up the process once they went for it.

They were probably aware of the worst and best case scenarios, took a gamble it would be nearer the best case as it usually is for athletes, especially ones with credentials like his.

They can be blamed for not having a backup, but the time taken is due to the government being dicks!

I wasn't meaning you, just thought you were literally quoting Mixu. But it is more PC these days to refer to this time of year as "the holidays." To me, when a laddie working in the mill, the holidays were the Dundee fortnight in July/August, and that sentiment remains with me. Wishing someone "Merry Christmas" sounds more personal  than "Happy Holidays".

I was going on about that with the missus the other night.
I say merry Xmas, if someone's offended or doesn't celebrate it, they can let me know. We're all grown ups.
If someone's offended by it, dinna really want to talk to them anyway as they are far too easily offended for my liking!

My question wasna having a dig at anyone, well no on here anyway. But surely there's no a holiday Season from October to January, certainly no in the UK anyway, with particular reference to this Britush Council lot.

Nah, sorry. Not having any of that. Nothing United could've done? Like having all the necessary paperwork completed? The guy has filled out a load of forms, taken them to the Home office, they've looked through them all then said "Thank you Mr. kawashima, that all seems to be in order but you're missing the English test paper."----"What English test paper?"---"The one that is quite clearly listed on our website."
Seriously, this could've been easily avoided. I've a massive bee in my bonnet about this as me and a good few mates have to go through the same process on a regular basis and don't have an agent or a top flight sports team to help us out bit seem to manage it fine enough. You'd have to be a special kind of idiot to apply for a work permit in a foreign country without finding out all the necessary paperwork needed no?
Btw, there's no Xmas season over here. Some people might buy a KFC for dinner but most people are working. I'll be working, my wife will too and my kids will be at school on Xmas day. To be fair, most Universities(who might be handling English tests) will be off. The Japanese celebrate New Year more, they'll visit relatives graves and family members' homes. The cynic in me thinks Kawashima might be fancying the new year at home with the family.

Re: Eiji Kawashima

Fair enough. Being an Arab in Japan and finding out the Japanese keeper was signing for United was a wee bit exciting. To watch it unfold as it has is annoying as f*!k. "How did Kawashima play?" Is a question I've been asked from a few Japanese mates. Errrrm, they've still not got the permit sorted! Apoligies to Houston etc if offended

No offended at all, it's all about opinions.
Mixu was saying the test was done on time and the delay wasn't from united.

Whether that's true or not is anyone's guess.
The home office delay is the lions share of the delay, all the paperwork was in order for that part and there is nothing anyone outside of the home office can do to accelerate that
