Tek Towers 'Ultimate Christmas Movie' - Round 1/Game 2

Thank you again for the numbers Hunted, and thank you to all who voted, Tek will agree that the competition is only as good as the people who participate so its much appreciated

The first game saw a great comeback, or a Christmas miracle, that had It's a Wonderful Life come from 3 -1, then 4 -2 down to finish of the winner with 6 votes ahead of Trading Places. Tied with Jamie Lee Curtis's tits was Bad Santa who remains on the naughty list and bows out the competition along with the poor Grinch who got even less votes than Home Alone, a movie which wasn't even in this round!

Round 1/Game2

There's no greater gift than friendship

Released: 2004
Director: Robert Zemeckis

Trivia: Steven Tyler of Aerosmith plays the lead singing elf in the North Pole.

Now I have a machine gun. Ho ho ho

Released: 1988
Director: John McTiernan

Trivia: Hart Bochners (Harry Ellis) line "Hans...bubby!" was ad-libbed. Alan Rickman's quizzical reaction was genuine.

You sit on a throne of lies
Released: 2003
Director: Jon Favreau
Domestic Box Office: $173'381'405
Trivia: Will Ferrell turned down $29 million to be in Elf 2 in late 2013.

Just because I cannot see it, doesn't mean I can't believe it

Released: 1993
Director: Henry Slick

Re: Tek Towers 'Ultimate Christmas Movie' - Round 1/Game 2

I watched the Polar Express last Sunday and enjoyed it. But its no Die Hard.

I turned Elf off after 20 minutes.

Too much commotion

Re: Tek Towers 'Ultimate Christmas Movie' - Round 1/Game 2

Apologies for the different sizes of images, its just a quick cut and paste job from google, this is no way indicative of how I view the movies, or how I want people to vote. This is a democratic competition, saying that my vote goes to Elf!

Definitely not my favourite movie in the competition, think its very funny in bits but I think it loses its steam near the end in my opinion. I have never seen Nightmare Before Christmas, and i could enjoy Die Hard any time of the year not just at Christmas, and think the Polar Express is pretty solid and decent and would have liked to have seen that in the cinema when it was released, so its Elf by proxy.

Die Hard is quality.  But for a proper xmas film it has to be Elf.

Elf. Probably be one of the high scorers in the final too.

I've never heard of Polar Express, I'm away to download that.

Haven't seen 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' or 'Die Hard'.

'Polar Express' i've watched witht the wee man and it was 'ok'.Doubt i'd watch it again though.

So my vote goes to Elf.

Is Die Hard really a Christmas Movie?

Yes, Die Hard and Die Hard 2 take place over the Christmas holidays. Die Hard starts and finishes with Christmas songs and all the hostages that the terrorists take are attending a Christmas party, with many more Christmas references littered through it.

Is it a 'traditional' Christmas movie, no, but depends on what you would call traditional. Its more of a Christmas film than Trading Places.

Re: Tek Towers 'Ultimate Christmas Movie' - Round 1/Game 2

Trading Places takes place over the Christmas period and indeed an important scene is at a Christmas party when Windthorpe loses the plot. However, the ending takes place at New Years Eve and I tend to think of it as a New Years movie rather than a Christmas one for some reason.

You can include Lethal Weapon, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Batman Returns as Christmas films as well. But none are in this competition
