Re: Dundee United V's Partick Thistle - Saturday 12th December (3PM)

This is an absolutely massive game on Saturday and the team/manager will be under immense pressure to get the much needed win.

Sickening that the new goalie will still not be here and it's fair to say I am shitting this game with that flapper still in between the sticks.

Partick head here with a healthy points advantage over us so naturally they will come to spoil and counter us, we must start fast and score early.
0-0 at HT will leave us pressing big time 2nd half and open to the usual sucker punch.

Trying not to think of the ramifications of a defeat

Re: Dundee United V's Partick Thistle - Saturday 12th December (3PM)

Szromnik/zwick

McGowan Morris (if fit) Dillon gunning Dixon
Demel souttar rankin
Pongolle McKay

Surely to fuck demel will be slightly fit! Would rather have a half fit Morris than durnan! Hopefully Kawashima will be signed in time but I'm very much doubtful

Re: Dundee United V's Partick Thistle - Saturday 12th December (3PM)

Pretty sure the formation won't change, let's face it if it didn't change when playing 10 for 65 minutes, it's not changing on Sat.  If Demels not fit enough for 90 minutes in midfield, could he be thrown in at sweeper where there's a lot less running?

Toss a coin for the keeper, their both pretty poor

There are no ramifications of a defeat. The only time there will be ramifications of a defeat is when we go 4 points behind with only one game to go.

More needless pessimism and drama,

Re: Dundee United V's Partick Thistle - Saturday 12th December (3PM)

Ok, so what are the ramifications of a defeat? Worst case we go a further three points behind. There are still 20 games to go. There is no immediate consequence of losing on Saturday.

Re: Dundee United V's Partick Thistle - Saturday 12th December (3PM)

Durnan out of the team/squad/club/city

McGowan dropping back in to CH.

Erskine in, better to get a good hour than a half hour where he cant influence the game.

Dillon stays in there. Simply because theres no one else to put there. Donaldson isnt upto the task (so we're led to believe).

Re: Dundee United V's Partick Thistle - Saturday 12th December (3PM)

Would we not be better with Souttar at the back instead of Durnan? Get Demel in midfield. I don't think we need wholesale changes.

Thats what I'd play until Morris and Demel are back fit.

Too much commotion

Souttar is poor in the air so for that reason i'm against him playing at the back.

I'd go with Morris and Gunning as the CH pairing for the forseeable.

He's not as much of a bombscare as Durnan though. I'd have him in there until Morris is fully fit

Re: Dundee United V's Partick Thistle - Saturday 12th December (3PM)

Id rather have souttar at the back and have spittal and durnan out of the team, obviously with erskine and demel coming in

Re: Dundee United V's Partick Thistle - Saturday 12th December (3PM)

The only league games we've won are the games in which we've kept a clean sheet, which is why my heart sank in the fourth minute on Saturday.

A clean sheet and a goal from someone other than McKay would be fantastic on Saturday.

Re: Dundee United V's Partick Thistle - Saturday 12th December (3PM)

I don't see Durban getting dropped. He has played every minute under Mixu. Think there will be a lot of disappointed folk on Saturday - unfortunately.
If Dillon, durnan and szmornik start we concede at least one.
Hopefully McKay has been working on his one on ones this week

Did I say that? No. I said there are no "ramifications" if we get beat.

I dont know what formation that is??? but it got me thinking that really,  I  think half the league would bite your hand off for these sort of options.

At one point or another all those players were sh1t hot in Scotland.

Re: Dundee United V's Partick Thistle - Saturday 12th December (3PM)

That's a real stretch to call any of them shit hot in scotland.
Demel and Pongille, never played.
Morris and erskine lower league players getting up to speed.
Szmornik - hmmmmm
Souttar - untapped potential
The rest are journeyman pros. (Not a bad thing as that's a bit of what we need just now)

All for positivity, but let's not set unrealistic expectations.
This isn't a go at you but I've noticed a lot lately in score predictions, how everyone thinks we are going to start pumping teams. I can't see it, I think we will scrap our way out this mess.
Next season is where we start bossing teams
