I actually thought Donaldson looked decent the few games he played at the start of the season. Would rather he was in there ahead of Durnan.

Heard someone saying on Twitter the issue with Donaldson was more his 'attitude' than ability i.e. he has a poor one.
Might be something in it because agree with all above he looked 'okay' to me and if playing in a settled, experienced back line would probably blossom.

The out of contract players:
Dow (good but Injury prone)
Morris (same as Dow)
Connolly (seems to be attitude)
Mcgowan (would love us to keep him)
Rankin (his attitude Is great, we need better player's than him though)
Mccallum (cya)
Souttar (cya)
let Bodul find a club
let Murray find a club
Sean Dillon also
If we get rid of the 9 there, stay up and keep Gowser, If Mixu maybe gets 5 of those wages to maybe:
Secure Gunning on a longer deal If we stay up
Same with Mckay
bring In a holding midfielder who can play from the back
bring In a pacy winger flair player
bring In another striker who's a battering ram
Next season might be the one.

Heard that he turns up for training late.

I think some folk now think youth is our downfall. We can't go binning folk because they are under 25 and haven't scored a hat-trick every game. Murray is a hard-working player deserves his chance even if it's on loan in the Championship.
Dow - is a decent player we should keep him.
I don't think Morris should be punted nor Connolly.
Ranks and Dillo have invaluable experience - I would certainly give them another year at least. Fraser, Telfer, Robson need guys like them around them.
We really are a miserable bunch aren't we? We barely even cheer the team announcements anymore. Let's lift it a little eh? Give these young guys some backing.

An over-dependence on youth has certainly been a major factor in our "fall down" the league and our diminishing status in Scottish football. I agree that Dow and Morris should still be kept, for a while anyway. Sorry, but Connolly is far too diminutive for this league. To survive he has to be a Strachan, a Bremner, or Gemmill type. Hard as nails. Otherwise he is just brushed aside. The Telfs isn't much better, but since we blew a lot of money on him, a bit more perseverance perhaps. I'd keep Ranks, Dills too for back-up. Fraser and Robson we keep, however, we need the right balance between youth and experience in our squad. Give Mixu the backing and leave the rest to him.

100% youth was our downfall
We were starting games with 7 players 22years old or younger, that was complete insanity.
We got bullied every game from seasoned pros, guys like Connolly offer nothing when you are scrapping for your life.
Looked at the teams we are up against, Hearts, ICT Saints Celtic Aberdeen Hamilton all big physical teams who are hardened to the demands of the SPL.
Having young talent at the club is good but not when you overload the first team with it.

Having young talent only works when they actually have talent. Too many of ours are over-rated and have been brought in from other clubs (most didn't even come through our system) in the hope they are the next Russell, Goodie, Gauld or Armstrong when clearly they are nothing like as good. The difference is these boys we sold were nurtured from a young age and were exceptional. They all (Gauld apart) also had to bide their time with loans etc or were in and out of the first team like Armstrong for about 2 years.

Agree.
The other problem as I see it is all the young players we have are all 'nice' lads and quiet as a mouse.
Spittal,Telfer,Connolly,Fraser,Souttar, etc can you imagine any of these boys going into a 50/50 with Scott Brown?
Guys like Goodie and Russell even from a young age had the build of men,but more importantly had a bit of devilment and dig about them.

Ken Goodie did boxing. No sure if Russell did too but bulking up and a bit of boxing might help confidence.
Some players are even scared of the fkn ball hitting off them, turning their back on situations that they fear the ball skelping their puss, baws stomach possibly. Makes it easy for the opposition to sell a dummy and builds THEIR confidence.

Goodie and Russell are internationalists. Of the current crop of young players we have in and around our first team how many will be capped?
Souttar, at a stretch. Can't see the rest getting a cap. Souttar would have to up his game big time to get anywhere near a Scotland squad. Even Gauld, for all his talent, how many starts or appearances has he made for Sporting? Count on 1 hand.
We massively over rate our youth players in Scotland.

I see the boy Kuhl's old man has been put in interim charge of Reading after they sacked Steve Clarke this morning.
He should use his position to get his son signed up on an 8 year deal, recalling him to his parent club immediately.

I agree and I disagree.
We can overrate our youth players but at the same time, we expect far too much from players at a young age.
Souttar and Gauld are 19. You simply cannot write them off at this stage, especially Gauld.
