Re: Utd v St.Johnstone - Sat 21/11/15 3pm

Szromnik
McGowan Morris gunning Dixon
Souttar rankin
Murray Fraser spittal
McKay

Mcgowan has to play at right back we need his width ! If Morris and gunning are fit I'd play both! Souttar back in to his centre mid role with rankin sitting!

Re: Utd v St.Johnstone - Sat 21/11/15 3pm

Genuinely no idea how we're gonna go. We'll need to be prepared for a battle thats for sure.
Mixu's gone with a diamond at least twice so far so maybe same sort of idea?
I think Dillon & Durnan need to drop to the Bench, Both have been poor and cost us goals lately.
I'd also like to see Si Murray start with Mckay. Cant do any worse than Taggart or Bodul.

We dont have much genuine width atm so we need fullbacks pushing on and making the pitch as wide as possible. concentrate on gettting ball into the box and letting McKay do what he does best. He's always going to be there or thereabouts and his poachers instinct will see him net. Imperative the ball goes into the box though.

Re: Utd v St.Johnstone - Sat 21/11/15 3pm

I'll give my team tomorrow night once I know for sure who can all play.

Incidentally hope Utd get the undersoil heating on nice and early tomorrow night as temperatures are meant to plummet and there is a distinct chance it may snow also.

Re: Utd v St.Johnstone - Sat 21/11/15 3pm

think we are maybe one quality midfielder and one good "supply" winger away from a real team on paper.

Re: Utd v St.Johnstone - Sat 21/11/15 3pm

Be interesting to see if Gunning goes straight in and if he does is it instead of Durnan or does McGowan go to RB?

Maybe even McGowan into defensive midfield - don't see any opposition midfielders fancying their chances of winning a tackle with him.

Still a bit to go before we get the attacking side of things sorted so will be heading up with fingers crossed for a 1-0.

Re: Utd v St.Johnstone - Sat 21/11/15 3pm

I'd be tempted to go 5 at the back with two wing back flying forward at every opportunity

Re: Utd v St.Johnstone - Sat 21/11/15 3pm

For me the 3 main problem areas aren't dealt with yet , goalie, width and a partner for McKay so I'd be tempted to push Dixon further forward to try and give some width at least, also depends if Morris is fit so possibly

                               Szromnik
                                 Dillon
                McGowan          Gunning
Spittal.                                                  Dixon
                                  Rankin
                 Souttar.                     Fraser
                                  Murray
                                  McKay

Or

                                  Szromnik
  McGowan.    Morris.            Gunning.       Dillon
  Spittal.          Souttar.            Rankin.          Dixon
                                    Fraser
                                    McKay

Re: Utd v St.Johnstone - Sat 21/11/15 3pm

we are not a million miles away but when your best 3 or 4 midfielders as a group are probably one of the worst in the league, we still shouldnt be getting our expectations up there too far.

Problem with our midfield has always been that we were never able to maintain control of games and keep attacks going... wasnt so much a problem when we were lightning on the break back in the GMS/Armstrong et al era.   We dont have the pace anymore and dont have the players to control a game in there.

So we are getting there but we need a quality ball player in there.

This, but swap Murray and Connelly. Murray deserves a chance and Connolly, well doesn't. IMO

Re: Utd v St.Johnstone - Sat 21/11/15 3pm

I was tempted to start Murray.

Think he might be a better option from the bench though.

Hopefully he gets a chance before Taggart who I don't rate at all.

Re: Utd v St.Johnstone - Sat 21/11/15 3pm

Connolly flatters to deceive 99% of the time imo mate, just don't rate the lad at this level.

We'll only know what Murray is capable of if he gets a chance.

Re: Utd v St.Johnstone - Sat 21/11/15 3pm

I like Connolly and still think there's a player there.

He does need to start delivering though (and consistently).

Re: Utd v St.Johnstone - Sat 21/11/15 3pm

Dillon into the middle, right footed centre half on the right side, left footed centre on the left. Durnan carrying water bottles.
Souttar in the middle, last chance for him IMO, needs to get involved or gtf. No time for passengers.
Murray to provide a bit of width/pace in behind.Spittal on the other side.

Re: Utd v St.Johnstone - Sat 21/11/15 3pm

Surprises me that people want Connolly in the team, he offers fuck all and it's like playing with 10 men
Murray deserves a chance to see if we can utilise his pace and determination
