Re: Scotland votes NO - The aftermath thread

@Rodge regards Calum Morris

He tweeted a picture of the Union Jack projected onto Buckinham Palace and tweeted a really smug post followed by the hashtag #NowSimmerDown

Very much a 'bow down to your masters' and let's get Scotland put back in it's wee box type post.

Total 2 fingers upto a city that have just returned a massive YES vote.

I don't care if he's a Dundee United player, comes across as a total prick for that.

I noticed the wee clique who run Mad are dishing out yellows to anyone with a similiar opinion.Pathetic.

Re: Scotland votes NO - The aftermath thread

My take on both campaigns is that they were both poor, the no campaign horrendous actually.  Was starting to think the no campaign would lose it (rather than the yes campaign winning it) because of their negativity.

However,

Given the make-up of the results can't help but think that the YES campaign lost this this by not putting poverty and jobs for the young top of the agenda.  Currency, trident and the EU we're allowed to be the talking points for far too long.  When you look at the majority no votes in some of the most deprived areas of Scotland, then they didn't do enough to win people over with the real grass roots issues in what was a grass roots campaign.

Anyway fuck it, it's done (for now)

Going back to posting on Footy, cos this shit has me depressed and we've got derbies to win.

As for Callum Morris, wouldn't take it too serious, probably just trying to be funny and I'm sure he's been put in his place.  It does unfortunately typify the way we're thought of  down South though.

Re: Scotland votes NO - The aftermath thread

Has Callum Morris not been capped by the Republic of Ireland???? That'll go down well. He'd better hope he never gets capped whilst Roy Keane is still involved, he'll get fucking murdered if he comes away with anymore of that crap. Clown.

Too much commotion

Re: Scotland votes NO - The aftermath thread

I had a wee greet to myself tonight. Horrible feeling.

The only saving grace for me is the hope that the Labour Party are well and truly fucked.

See when the Tories win next year and we get the EU referendum I'm voting to leave it. I'm just going to be a bitter bastard about this.

Re: Scotland votes NO - The aftermath thread

Was disappointed with the Dundee and Glasgow turnout but it basically means that over 20% of 2 of Scotland's cities have no hope or aspirations at all. These poor cunts have been let down. I'll be ok. I've got a decent job and a semi decent pension. The vote wasn't about me though.

Gutted.

I never had a huge interest in Scotland futba side but really what's the point of it? We'd be as well having a UK team if we're not prepared to stand on our own 2 feet.

That genuinely saddens me.

I felt the same this morning.I'd been up aw night drinking, was completely distraught at what i'd witnessed and that Morris tweet was the final straw.I admit i completely bit his head off.First time (and hopefully last time) i ever do that with a DUFC player.

As much as the Dundee and Glasgow turnout was dissapointing,at least they voted for a brighter and better future.2 brilliant cities who never sold out.

Where do we go fae here ?

I just hope that this amazing atmosphere of people engaging in politics and in their future continues. This hope that we can hope for better.

Revolution was in the air and Scotland was a truly exciting place to live for the past month.

45% are hungry for change.Let's not besmirch that figure gents.

The genie is out of the bottle regards Westminster+the establishment as Mark McGowan has poetically put it,and more importantly, for me,Scotland has at long last awoken from it's slumber.

I apologise to everyone for my glib post earlier,of a defeatist manner.

We lost the battle on Friday. But the War for Independence and a fairer society is not over.I and thousands of others won't allow that now.

Re: Scotland votes NO - The aftermath thread

We need a new National anthem, fuck singing "will be a nation again" in FoS, fucking minter.

I suggest God Save The Queen, it's what the majority would want.

I'm finished with the Scottish national team too, Prescott was right, we should just have a UK team, seeing as were more "North Britain" than Scotland anyway.

Like your post Andy, given that I'm guessing there's a bit of cynicism in there.

Re: Scotland votes NO - The aftermath thread

Read that earlier. It is very good. People are disillusioned just now but they need to keep the activism going. We really need to show the Labour Party how disgusted we are with them. A start would be getting rid of that McGovern in the General Election next year.

Edit to say it doesn't dilute my anger either towards the selfish shitehouses who embarrassed the country I love

Re: Scotland votes NO - The aftermath thread

It was really only the old folk that voted to stay in the Union though. Every age group apart from the 18 -24s, who were marginally No, voted to leave. The over 55s voted to remain in UK.

A lot of them still have a sense of Britishness. They were recipiants of a Welfare State that is now being dismantled. A lot of them were scared due to The Labour Party going round council houses with a Giant chocolate coin telling them we wouldn't have any money

Love that fellas rant...LOVE IT.

Remember.We only need a 5.5% swing towards YES next time,fucking VERY do-able.

Bring on the austerity...bring on the cuts...and aye fuck it let's Rock'n'Roll.

Fuck the Beeb...fuck SKY...and fuck every media outlet.

As a great man once said 'the Revolution WILL NOT be televised'

In any case Social media is the new vehicle to galvanise, education and organise grassroots movements.

Let's keep this momentum going and use it to fight these bastards even harder.

Re: Scotland votes NO - The aftermath thread

There won't be a next time, not in our lifetime anyway.

IF Labour gain power again, and I truly hope they don't but we still have hundreds of thousands who would vote for a donkey in a red rosette, they will never agree to a referendum as it would decimate their support in the UK, the Tories got a fright this time so they're not going to agree readily either.

It's also highly unlikely that the SNP will get another majority government at Holyrood to present this case in the future anyway.

The majority of Scotland have spoken, they've said we can't run our own country so I too hope we get royally fucked over by the Tories, the games up the poly.

It's shite being Scottish! We're the lowest of the low. The scum of the fucking Earth! The most wretched, miserable, servile, pathetic trash that was ever shat into civilization.
Some hate the English. I don't. They're just wankers. We, on the other hand, are colonized by wankers. Can't even find a decent culture to be colonized by. We're ruled by effete assholes. It's a shite state of affairs to be in, and all the fresh air in the world won't make any fucking difference!

Sadly I agree. The best we can do is make a complete nusiance of ourselves. Lets not vote for the 3 main parties. Lets organise to get Labour MPs out. Lets even vote No in the EU referendum out of sheer badness. They'll have to look after us. They were desperate to keep us.

Re: Scotland votes NO - The aftermath thread

I for one won't be complicit in voting in one set of wankers to replace another (or voting to keep the same wankers in power, even).Labour,Tory, same thing these days. That's why i said i won't ever vote in a General Election again. It's just like moving about deckchairs on the deck of a sinking ship.

Instead we have to either back the SNP like never before or some kind of new movement/party has to eminate like a Phoenix fae the Flames.

Keep the faith lads. It's hard to at the moment i know.

The fights not over.

Labour are all but finished in Scotland, make no mistake.

That's where we are right now, but I honestly believe there will be a non-mainstream party at the next election that will capitalise on the civic movement witnessed through the referendum.
