The George Square riots

Utterly depressing and upsetting to hear, read and watch footage of this tonight.

This fucking brilliant country of ours seems to forever be held back 300 years by this (sizeable) element of society. These people are NOT representative of your averageNO voter.Nor are they representative of your average Glaswegian. They are almost like their very own Subculture. One that sadly never appears to fade.

The fact is 2 million voted for NO and i can accept that,as stomach-turningly hard as it is.

No-one likes to address the Elephant in the room though.Scotland is LARGELY still a protestant country, for this reason a good number of voters will NEVER accept a YES vote.Scotland will always have a percentage of voters it will NEVER win round to Independence,no matter what.

As for the morons at George Square.

Is it not fucking hightime that Rangers FC issued a statement denouncing themselves as a 'protestant' club, and announcing that they are infact a club that is open to every faction of society, whatever, religion, race, creed, sex or walk of life they may be.

Is it not time they as a club and maybe even more importantly their decent fans completely savaged these loyalist types and made it clear they are not welcome at Ibrox.

They won't though of course. If they did their support would be utterly decimated. But not before some real instances of public disorder at their matches.

It really is the only way that club could ever cleanse itself though.

Doubt it will ever happen but i do know one thing it is time for Scotland to stop putting up with this shit. They continue to hold us back and make us a laughing stock.

Re: The George Square riots

These cunts have been waiting for years to celebrate something signifcant

They would have rioted regardless  whether it had been Yes or No.

I feel so sorry for all the decent Glaswegians. It is a place that has grown on me is the past few years since my sister moved there.

Re: The George Square riots

What can be done to rid Scotland of this lads ?

As i said i honestly feel Rangers as a club and let's be honest an 'Institution' in Scottish culture need to stop pussyfooting around this element of their support if they genuinely want to be a forward-thinking 'non-secterian' club.i suspect for financial reasons they will bury their heads in the sand forever more.

See if Rangers did disown the bigots, went under and came back as a club up the leagues with just 5,000 fans or less i would have fucking IMMENSE respect for them and the fans that supported them.A pipedream though.

A part of me tonight is slightly relieved NO won.can you imagine these people if YES won?i think Glasgow and surrounding areas could quickly have descended into Ulster levels of division.

'element of their support'!?

That is the core element that The Rangers FC represents.

Union Jacks,
Rule Brittania
God Save the Queen (even though we want to pish n shit and smash her streets up)

It is the fans are the identity of the club. As much as the board members of Celtic try to distance themselves from political statements such as the Bobby Sands display, or showing support for Palestine, that is what Celtic FC is all about because that is what the majority of the fans are all about.

What needs to be done now, is that 'normal' Rangers fans need to be shamed into admitting that they have bought into a 'brand' which represent the low-life Union Jack waving cretins on George Square.

I am working at the moment alongside an old fisherman. He is from a village in Aberdeenshire where he told me off about 1200 inhabitants, only about 100 were voting NO, the rest voting YES. (Aberdeenshire officialy 60% NO / 40% YES n all that....THEY FUCKING CHEATED PEOPLE) He was absolutely distraught about the result the following day and disgusted at Cameron's gloating in the media. I asked him today how he felt about all his fellow Rangers fans celebrating (through the medium of riot) the Unionist victory. His reply was:

"they weren't Rangers fans"

These 'normal' Rangers fans (the minority) need to be forced to see the errors of their ways and repent!

Re: The George Square riots

I'm at a loss with what to do with these total moronic reprobates. It's sad for me that Glasgow is their mecca so is largely associated with Glasgow. As a few have said it really doesn't paint a true reflection of Glasgow at all. It was only when it kicked off I suddenly realised we hadn't heard from this sub-culture much during the whole referendum. There has been some social changes in Glasgow of late and areas usually associated with their like are slowly being revamped as the council attempt to reduce the concentration. This will be a long process but as it becomes less and less acceptable and there are less and less places for them the hang about there is some hope that ones born into it who are clever enough will escape as they see it is not common place or acceptable. I can only hope, but from what has been happening that seems to be what is trying to be done.
