Was watching on scumtic tv and the commentary team were virtually laughing at him. Particularly his running off the ball. Couldn't disagree. He just not one.
How many years did we sign him for?

This is what happens when the Chairman is pre-occupied by events on the other side of the planet!

Imagine it had leaked this summer that McNamara had lined up a former Croatian U21 cap with top flight experience in Holland, Austria and Denmark but Thompson had refused to sanction the deal?
You can't blame everything on the chairman. He gives a budget, the manager spends it. Madness to try and hold him accountable for this.

I had high hopes for him.
Yeah ...well

Correct.
If the chairman was micro managing and interfering in player purchases we'd all be going mental.
As a more general point regarding eye off the ball with regard to the broader picture of performance and purchasing....yeah fair enough...

He's fucking disgraceful! As ar souttar, telfer, szromnik, Connolly, taggart, Mcallum bodul, kuhl, durnan, spittal, Dillon, Donaldson, anier, bilate, Murray, the standard of our squad is laughable! Relagation is a absolute certainty if the shite doesn't get moved on and we bring players in with quality in! Our signing policy MUST change also none of this signings with potential, we need players for the here and now

Agree with trap - managers fault completely. The chairman is not a football scout - he has to trust the gaffer and fair play to him he gave him cash to spend.
And even fairer play to him for making extra budget for mixu to get us out the shit.

Yep, totally agree.

It isn't Stephen Thompson's fault Darko Bodul is a shit player and was handed a 2 year deal.
But it is completely his fault he gave Jackie McNamara another transfer window to get us in this complete mess.
Should have been out on his arse in April/May.

The manager runs the team and pays the penalty for on the park failure
Thompson is the man who runs our club and has allowed countless bad decisions on and off the park to happen, his focus has not been 100% on DUFC.....
He has allowed the demise from 2nd top to rock bottom in less than a year to happen on his watch, including not punting the clowns last season then this summers circus of a pre season and signing policy

Well as long as we can all agree he is fucking mince.

Tbh Pat,yes you are correct.
Best team we have had for 20 years and won fuck all, never even qualified for Europe.
Imagine having GMS,Armstrong,Ciftci,Robertson,Gauld,Gunning,El Alagui,Gomis etc in your team and not even getting us Europe in a league without Huns...and Hearts and Hibs on their knees.
Abject failure.

Point taken. My comment came across as specific to Bodul when in fact My thoughts were quite general. Bodul is/was only one of a string of poor signings and had ST been more focussed at Tannadice rather than galavanting after the "Jet Set" down under, he just might have started to question things more properly at a much earlier stage. The position we are in now, he might as well have left Jacko in place until the end of the season?

I can accept that criticism of the chairman Tek. I don't agree with you, but at least you're focussing on things that are his responsibility.
So many United fans I speak to are throwing all sorts of blame at the chairman, for things that are absolutely not his doing.
Now McNamara has gone, folk need a focal point for their anger. The chairman fits the bill.
