The only case I can make for him is it offers continuity and lack of a credible alternative?

I think he needs to bin the old guard, we've not qualified by selecting a squad littered with English players who have Scottish heritage, I'd rather not qualify for 2018 with young Scottish players that were then ready to qualify for 2020 and beyond.

When names were getting banded about for the United job I thought Billy Davies might make a good Scotland manager, he's a good coach and could have built a bit of a siege mentality.
