I personally don't think he should agree to it either.

No danger any candidate goes in and demands that of any club other than Celtic.  Even then they'd be told to do one.

He's not done that.

Don't think anyone can demand that for sure as big money offers will see any team sell if the money is right. But most incoming managers might try to negotiate something related to building a team in a more sustainable way to progress than what's recently happened and  been whipped away fae the previous teams built.
ST will have to give better terms there and a budget to climb out of this hole with a man that can offer progression. He has to change the business plan to accommodate the support and the new manager. Who will take the job and support a way forward if he doesn't?

If a Chairman asks you to more or less comes in and save their club from relegation, and possible admin I guess, I think it'd be perfectly acceptable for you to say that. Selling anymore of our better players for the next 2 years or so will do nothing other than see us back in the position we are now, and lower the managers reputation in the process. IMO mind.

Re: John Hughes..

I hope it is McCall.

Why we would pay compo for Hughes or Wright when he's free is beyond me.

I'd much rather give McCall that money in January to sign players.

Re: John Hughes..

The only managers in football that could make a demand like that to a chairman are all at clubs way bigger than United and bigger countries than Scotland

Yeah yeah Industrial Estate

Re: John Hughes..

McCall always had a good record of getting quality players in on loan, he is/was my preferred option, too many people judge him on his stint at Ibrox, Sevco were a shambles last season and Fergie would've struggled to get them up.

McCall also seems like a man of honour,  he put his hands up at Motherwell and walked away without waiting to be sacked and receiving compo, if McNamara did the same we wouldn't be in this state with 51 players who give give and take a couple are not up to the job.

I've gone full circle fae hoping for him to wondering about and considering others. Only other option that really caught my imagination was surprisingly Steve Kean but he is too far out, a massive risk and never going to happen.
Back to McCall for me too.

Exact same funnily enough.

Fancied McCall. Then considered we were being too 'unambitious' and panicked in recent times with every name we've been linked with.

Over this weekend it's been pointed out to me just what a fucking incredible job McCall did at Motherwell, and tbh he's the only Manager in Scotland who has had anywhere near the turnover of players Utd have had.And he's always took them onwards, apart from his last 4 months (he held his hands up quickly and walked away from any compo).

Aye,i can live with McCall if it's him. He'll do fine,if we actually back him over his 3 years.REALLY back him.

Getting a tangerine and black cross of st. George banner with DUFC in each quadrant if he's hired.

In all seriousness, that's the one excuse I can comprehend for not wanting him, because he'll do a good job otherwise.

Re: John Hughes..

i want mccall and really hope we get him, on his rangers connections i have no problem at all with as unlike hately n goram n gough who come across as bigoted pricks mccall always seems a really nice guy in interviews and is always complimentary about us as a club

Re: John Hughes..

Mind Sir James McLean was with the Dee before he came to us and that worked out Nae too bad!!

McCall also has to be commended for being the only manager who made Anier look like a football player!!

I'd be happy with either Hughes or McCall just need it done asap to allow a good week of training before Hearts game

Re: John Hughes..

McCall will do better than Wright or Hughes IMO, not my first pick but would be happy with him.

He's also sound as fuck btw, Hun or not.

Re: John Hughes..

Wouldn't mind McCall, wouldn't mind someone soon though !!!
All this faffing around makes you wonder if whoever it is was keen and passionate for the club they'd have been in place last week...

Re: John Hughes..

I think the fact that McCall said he was concentrating on the Scotland games over a week ago and the fact that we still haven't appointed anyone points to him getting the job.

I may be wrong but why didn't they approach Hughes as soon as it was obvious Wright didn't want the job?

Tommy Wright - looks special
John Hughes - sounds special
Stuart McCall - massive hun

I'd take the massive hun every day, there are probably knuckle-touchers at the club anyway so another one won't  (hopefully) kill us.

Re: John Hughes..

Jim McLean was a hun
So was his brother Tommy
So was Alex Ferguson
So is Derek McInnes

All managers we would gladly have.
I'm not saying I desperately want McCall, but being a Hun doesn't rule him out.

A lot of them like even the amateur / laddies Glasgow football teams have a 'win at all costs' mentality and expectation.
I'd be happy to see that in our team rather than a bunch of wee fannies getting bullied.

I believe that's how Levein was successful, we had a big strong team that could win the physical battle, but we could also play football once that was done.

Re: John Hughes..

Whoever comes in deserves our complete support to get us out of this mess we are in even if they are a knuckle toucher, or a funny speaker, or spent the last 2-3 years trying to ruin our footballing lives (Wright).

Too much commotion
