Is down to the last 3 or 4 transfer windows. We made an absolute cunt out of every single one of them! Dundee had their business done in 2 or 3 weeks... we scrambled around for dregs.
Next window will be crucial because this won't get better with the players we have.

I am not expecting a new manager to turn things around quickly, no matter who they are. Most of our players, for one reason or another would struggle to get a game in our First Division. Only half a dozen or so are up to SPFL standards. No manager can take over a team whose real overall standard is bottom Championship/First Division quality and be expected to keep them in the SPFL.

Any manager that can pull us out of where we are ATM, deserves every penny.

From those listed in the 1st team squad on club website, these are the only 16 players good enough (or will be good enough) and 10 of those ( I think) are 22 or under. Also 3 are out on loan.
It's obvious what we need is experience, quality and width. To be fair that's been obvious all year.
We need to lose Paton, Erskine, Dow, Bilate, Taggart, Kuhl, Bodul, Murray, Durnan, Donaldson, Szromnik, Anier and sadly Moore from that squad.
Then we need to bring in a GK (now if possible), a dominant CH (if not 2), 2 wide players and a 3rd option up top with McKay and Muirhead.
13 out, 5 in and it should be a far better squad.

Unfortunately it is ultimately down to the players and to be quite honest, save 5 or 6, we simply just don't have them. Don't expect "anyone" to work wonders with our squad. We desperately need to get rid of a high numbers of players quicker than an involuntary bowel movement, and just as quickly, bring in proven professionals who can do a job for us with immediate effect.

We've attracted some and filled other youth players heads with moving on to bigger teams and massive wages.
Looks to me like they all need reminded that fighting for the honour of the badge is where that shift starts.
Money to motivation gets folk beyond their station and status.
Get yer fuckin head down and get stuck in.
We are now reaping the gamble sown by ST getting lucky with a crazy formula with 2 more team re builds than anyone thought we could do.
Some saw it coming and he didn't he just kept it going to the point of oblivion.
£8.5 million in to risk ?.million £'s to reverse the gamble. He got lucky in one direction that wasn't his doing.
Now its all down to him to invest in a recovery that works.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. Too many laddies here for the wrong reason. They have had their head filled with shite (by Jackie and co) that we are some sort of guaranteed stepping stone to bigger things rather than you are here to play and help Dundee United succeed.
I bet a few of them were on the phone to their agents last night asking them to get them the hell out of Utd asap.
Dundee United is a football club, not a shop window.

we have FAR too many young boys in our squad! our team is riddled with first divison players, i would get rid of all except mcgowan fraser and mckay, the rest of our squad are pathetic

Agree with posts 6 and 7. John Souttar being the biggest culprit. The boy wants to go back to the basics and pretend he's trying to make a name for himself instead of pretending that he's a world beater.

agree regarding Souttar he needs put out on loan to bring him back to earth ( bump ) . The only value I think we will get from him is in dev. fees like telfer .but this money making scheme from S.T and The one Jmac accepted has brought our club to its fucking knees ( first game I attended wasin 1968) and its not f&ckin on 😢.LAO ask your auld man to get Souttar on loan and get some big junior to put him in the next field with the first tackle cos that's what he needs!! 😡😡

Is his contract not up at the end of this season though? If we put him out on loan, I think it has to wait til Jan now. That would mean we could very well never see him again in tangerine. That also means the best we can hope for in return is a development fee, but based on his recent performances I doubt anyone would pay that.

The only player I want to see next season still at club is McKay. The rest can go. Please

Zwick and Fraser have potential and a good attitude, but have been hung out to dry by Jackie and their more experienced "Team mates"

I like McGowan too but he'll be offski. Otherwise, I agree with you 100%

I think McGowan is massively overrated.

I was being harsh on Fraser. I'd keep him. Doubt McKay will be here next season

McGowan has the touch of an elephant and can't pass the ball in any other direction than the way he's facing. But, he works hard and gets stuck in so at the moment we need him and tbh about another 5-6 boys like him.
I'd keep him, Fraser, McKay, Dixon, Rankin, Erskine and thats about it. The rest are either too soft, too slow or too shite.

Macho, telfer would not sign for THEM And was free to leave at the end of the season ,but we still had to pay £200,000 approx , for performance and dev .fees . I would take the first offer we get now !i honestly think I will be able to say in 10 years time when he's playing for Brechin vic's I thought he would make it 😢

I'm not disagreeing with anything you've said.
We tried to be smart with Telfer through Rangers demise. It spectacularly bit us on the arse.
Unless we are in a similar situation to The Rangers back when we signed him and someone tries to pull a fast one, teams are going to know they'll have to stump up full development fee for him and that will scare folk off.

John Souttar is by far the best footballer at Tannadice, but It's hard to disagree with what's been said above. He along with a few other young boys have been going backwards for far too long now. New manager has to get the best out of our young boys as well as bringing in the required experience.
My list of those to go was unrealistic enough, but folk saying keep 1 or 2 only, yeah right.

John souttar is absolutely no wear near the best footballer at tannadice, he's a okay at best at the moment, McKay and McGowan are miles ahead of him

Agreed.
John Souttar thinks that John Souttar is the best footballer at Tannadice. He needs a reality check.
Hopefully a new manager can sort his attitude out because he has potential to be good. People blaming the management etc for his fitness problems are deluded. He's no a bairn and shouldn't need his hand held. Fitness is part of sport, if you can't look after that part yourself, you don't deserve to be anywhere near a football club.

Fraser has ability but his fear of using his right foot is criminal, it's actually embarrassing.
