That's just the attributed quote from Sportscene.

He in no way ruled himself out of the job.

Strange slant on it from the Beeb.

Re: Next Dundee United Manager

McCall was no more than coy on the box last night and played the "just concentrating on Scotland" as that was his way out of the question from Sutherland. If he was asked to interview he would be there.

For me we get Bow and Dillon to take the team on Saturday and hope for a wee bounce against Thistle and it gives the board 3 weeks to get there man rather than rush someone in. We canny afford to make a tit of this one!!

Re: Next Dundee United Manager

What is he meant to say?
"aye, I'm just waiting for a text to tell my current employers to fuck off"

Re: Next Dundee United Manager

If it were to be McCall, I'd imagine that he would want to continue with Scotland on a Part Time Basis as long as Chesney is Gaffer (albeit he did have a sabbatical when he was at the helm of SS Sevco).  So where would everyone stand on this if McCall got the gig at Tanny?  Scotland or not Scotland...that is the question???!!!

Timing is good though. Euro campaign is finished soon so would be a convenient time to step down.

And if McCall says he learns more from coaching with Scotland and thus it's more beneficial to him managing Dundee United and he wants to do BOTH, what's your answer to that?

Re: Next Dundee United Manager

Doesn't bother me. Didn't get the fuss when PH did it. Did anyone bother when Mclean assited Stein?

Re: Next Dundee United Manager

If all depends on how the team are doing on the park. We're winning its not an issue, if were on a bad run then there are issues. ie Houstie was demonised for being away when we started to go downhill under him

Re: Next Dundee United Manager

I agree with you both.  I see it more of a positive than a negative.

Re: Next Dundee United Manager

Right now we need 100% focus on DUFC from the man in charge.

Normally wouldn't have a problem with it, but not when we're in the position we are right now.

Re: Next Dundee United Manager

I don't think it has to be someone who is out of work, not that I would discount then because they are out if work but it would be wrong to only look at "free" options.

Getting the right man is imperative, it might cost £200k to get him but if he gets us two places higher in the league, or even retains our place in the league over a free appointment then its worth it.

Get the right man, whatever it costs, within reason of course.

I wonder if they'll take a couple of weeks, use Bo for the Thistle game then take their time over the international break.

Re: Next Dundee United Manager

Agree Andy, right man is the key decision as long s financially we can afford them.

No point in just taking the best free option if there's better options elsewhere.
