Utd v Pars - Tue 22nd September 7.45pm (League Cup)

Sean Dillon suspended for this after his red card in last years Final.

Perfect time to go 3-5-2 imo.

He needs to win this...and win it well.Nothing other than victory is acceptable against opposition from the 3rd tier at home.

Heard on Saturday that Soapy has a knock (thigh?) - can't confirm but would explain why he didn't make the bench - would go with your formation Tek with a few wee changes..

Confidence will be a factor, Dunfermline are currently flying high and will have no fear factor on Tuesday, what have they got to lose being away from home against top tier opposition.

This will be very close.

Only thing I can hope of is United finally turning the corner and for everything to click for us.

I can only hope

I'm confident we will put them away early doors.  Not using this game as any sort of yardstick though.  Don't know how you could.

Re: Utd v Pars - Tue 22nd September 7.45pm (League Cup)

See when ties like this pop up and it's Ayr v St Mirren or Stirling Albion v Motherwell and you think, there's a chance for an upset there.

It almost never happens, the big team run out 3-0 or 4-1 winners with relatively no fuss.

Except United, i've lost count of the amount of times we make games like this too hard for ourselves by overthinking things.

The reason imho we lose to Celtic so often is because of attitude, they believe they are the big club and they come onto the pitch, bully us and generally be the big boys.

United give the oppostition too much respect, start the game on Tuesday like we did yesterday and we can have the game put to bed after about 25 minutes tops.

IF the manager can get the boys fired up it's not even a contest, out the traps and play it like it's the most important game ever.

Don't let them settle, go for it from the first whistle and they won't be able to handle McKay, Bodul, Fraser etc etc

"Don't F*cking ever offer me that again!"

Re: Utd v Pars - Tue 22nd September 7.45pm (League Cup)

Celtic players believe they are a big club.

United players do not believe.

Wondering if Dunfermline might have more fans at this game than us.

More chance of Norrie McCathie making a comeback.

Oh, what came of the things we once believed?

Re: Utd v Pars - Tue 22nd September 7.45pm (League Cup)

17 year old Jamie Robson debuting at left back.

Bringing a youngster into a struggling defence is a huge gamble.

I'm almost nervous for the laddie.

Re: Utd v Pars - Tue 22nd September 7.45pm (League Cup)

Ken what you mean TEK but if there's ever a game to throw a young laddie in, and let's face it we need competition/cover at left back, its a home tie against a lower league opposition.

Good call I think.
