Labour has a new leader.

Not so long ago Dundee was a Labour stronghold, not now.

I'm curious, statistically some on here will be ex Labour voters or, like me, ex party members.

Will this re-invigorate the Labour party in Scotland or make no difference?

At his victory rally he sung along to a rendition of "the red flag" a socialist anthem. So he's a proper full on socialist then?

Could be the end of the labor party as we know it IMO.

Is he a "proper full on socialist" - Mibbes aye/mibbes naw - but if he is then would be the return of the party I once joined...so hope so

We can only hope, the real Labour Party died when Blair took charge, hopefully it's now on its way back. We need a strong UK wide party to get rid of the Tories who are ruining people daily in Scotland. At least until we can get out of the UK.

Hopefully its the end of New Labour and it goes back to what the Labour party was set up for.

Interesting that Corbyn got a higher percentage of votes the Tony Blair when he was elected leader.

I'm not sure where this plays with us in Scotland now, like many I'm an ex Labour party member who is now an SNP party member, I would have voted for Corbyn.

I'm not sure if this will make the SNP stronger in Scotland, and Independence more viable as Labour won't appeal to the masses in England.

Alternatively it does unite Labour in England and Scotland and that puts an end to the surge of the SNP and Independence is pushed further away.

Think those of us who wish independence may need to look at UK and Scottish elections very differently and not just vote for 1 party all the time, assuming Corbyn can take labour the way it needs to go.

I think they are fucked whoever their leader is. They could dig up Atlee and I still wouldn't vote for them.

The Tories will win the next General Election with a majority of 50 plus. England won't vote for him

Question: If Scotland were to become independent who would you vote for afterwards?

Probably not, he would need 40+ seats in Scotland and even then there would have to be a large number of working class people who don't vote deciding to come out and vote for him in England, much like what happened up here over the last couple of votes.

I don't agree with much of what he stands for but at least he seems to stick by what he believes in and is not a populist MP. I still will never vote for Labour ever again though.

Will never vote for Labour again so who they have as Leader is an irrelevance to me.

As for Corbyn.He may be a 'proper' Socialist but the guy doesn't strike me as a leader or charismatic enough to win round enough lost voters (in Scotland anyway).
