I'd play him as a number 10.

Every day of the week, he's a class act and better than anyone we've got currently

His best position, no doubt about it, would probably get a few goals playing there as well.

Said yes, however bringing back silver kissers hasn't really worked so far!! Gomis, Goodie, Dicker so would maybe be better for Swanny not to tarnish the good memories we have of him.
Saying that the current crop are not exactly burning it up either

Hearts on trial, Levein can spot a talent, we should have took him say to January to see how it worked out , if come January it's not working out so be it, i would put money on it he would play more games than the two loan guys

If he's willing to go to Hearts on trial he would have came to Utd on trial most certainly.
Another missed opportunity, yet we take in complete unknowns in a last minute panic as per.

If we asked he would have , but obviously he's not the type of player we need at the moment😕

I daresay Swanny is at Hearts on trial looking to win at least a one year contract or more? If he shows up at Hearts then I wish both Hearts and Swanny all the best. It strikes me, for whatever reason, United don't really want this kind of deal at the moment. Players and their agents want to secure as good a contract as they can from a club. Swanny is old in footballing terms, more likely meaning requires more money. Signing youngsters on short term loans suits United financially at the moment. Even if it works out in the short term, it is very temporary and might just set us up for a repeat of last January when GMS and SA were sold and Watson and Townsend were punted to save cash.
Signing these short termers takes the heat off the United Board and management team. It will take a few weeks to see how good, bad or indifferent they are. By that time the Jets deal should have gone through and who knows what happens after that. The only consolation for this coming January is that until then we had a team seriously challenging in both cups and at least capable of securing second place in the league. This season we are likely to have no such aspirations? What do we do if we reach the League Cup Final (ok I'm dreaming) and then we lose the two guys who helped get us there? Also, MacKay could do a GMS and sign a precontract for someone else at that time.
I hate being negative but I think I've just about had enough of United under its current guise!

The Swan is a player and if he stays fit that is a great signing for them
