Hindsight

Just curious with this Muirhead away to Partick on loan how we answer this question.  We spent something like 175k on him right.  Would you have preferred we kept GMS to see out his contract through the end of last season or make what equates to 75k when its all said and done and have the asset in Muirhead.

I'd have kept GMS in the fold.  Hands down for me.

Re: Hindsight

GMS wanted to leave.
He played shite up until the jan window.

Precontract was signed, there would have been little to no effort.

2 facts conveniently left out all the time.

It was £150k

Re: Hindsight

nothing convenient about it.  Not really asking for arguments sake, just curious on where folk would stand.  Fact is the teams form dropped off big style when they left, dont think it was all down to Armstrong.  On a pish day GMS would at least give opposing managers something to think about.

Re: Hindsight

I wish that some of our current squad could play as shite as GMS did.

Re: Hindsight

He did want to leave though.

A very good player but someone who'll never fulfil his potential IMO due him being soft as shite.

Re: Hindsight

Muirhead going on loans a joke tho, 1 of the best up and coming young strikers in Scotland and Jackie and his crew are ruining him.

Re: Hindsight

Shite might be harsh, but his heart wasn't in it.
Would have been even less so after we blocked a move.

To be honest I thought he played  better under houston than he did under  McNamara, mainly due to not being utilized correctly.
Muirhead will come good, after he comes back in January, under a new manager.

Prior to January, he had scored 1 goal - on the opening day of the season. 2 assists. Definitely underachieving for a player of his ability.

Even bigger than your 'smoke and mirrors' effort that's just been dragged up on the scot Allan thread?

Re: Hindsight

He was shite away v Killie on tv and totally disinterested when he came on as a subbie away v Motherwell in league and the Scottish Cup game. Other than that he was ok. Not as good as previous years but still well capable of causing problems. Its no coincidence that we won most games in the first half of the season.

Re: Hindsight

I think disinterted is harsh and questions his professionalism. He is just a very inconsistent player who would go through spells of greatness and shitness. Apart from the good start he had at Celtic, he has been near annymous at Celtic and will be well down the pecking order soon.

Re: Hindsight

I don't have a problem with players moving but GMS had just played in a semi and got through to a final which he would have been a cert to start in. Although we accepted the dough he could have easily said, "nah, I want to try to win a cup with United before I leave". He'd already signed a pre contract. He was going end of May. Obviously didn't fancy it. I don't blame Armstrong one bit for bailing either although there was no pre contract for him. He probably got a take it or leave it offer from Celtic

Re: Hindsight

GMS shat a brick in the big games. His performance in Moscow was up there with the worst ever.

He's doing same with Celtic.

Oh, what came of the things we once believed?

I'd agree with that. His performance in the final v the Perth bastards was laughable. He's famous for taking the piss out of Dave McKay with a wee trick that didn't result in a goal. Dave McKay put in a hard tackle in the cup final final and GMS went off. Wonder who laughs hardest now

Re: Hindsight

Mackay-Steven was pretty fucking good in that first leg v Moscow, though. Tore their International right back to pieces. Always donned the Derbies and was very good against Celtic in the 3-4 semi.

He's that type of player who will always be hit or miss. Loved him.
