Last week I said we have to back or sack. I've wanted rid for months. If we spend good dough for McKay then I would take that to mean that he's being backed. These meltdoons on forums and Social media are doing no one any good.
So everyone's to stop moaning regardless of the results because we might sign Billy McKay lol?Only an opinion, but forums are okay for meltdowns. Where I think it's wrong, on United forums, is for posters thinking people should either be on one side, backing ST and JMac, or the other side, backing the Fed/Arabtrust.
There are probably many fans who don't sit at either extreme, and I find it over simple when a poster accuses others of being the polar opposite simply because they don't 100% agree with a point.
Happily, this site avoids that type of material in the main, as we all seem to be able to recognise that everyone wants the best for United.
Well said Pat. I like this site for having a general sense of realism and a fair respect for fellow supporters. If folk get wound up I get that too, we are all quite to extremely passionate about oor team here.
If anyone gets vindictive or over the top others have done a fuckin great job of nippin it in the bud. Tough few months but we're keeping it real.
Don't want to see folk on here getting too worked up about the right to moan or being positive. That has wrecked utd mad.
Let's do what we've done and keep the heed.
This is Tekel and we won't be split into pro this, anti that and stereotyping each other at the drop of a headdress!

Morris and Durnan will be good together, hopefully this partnership happens soon
Woah boy!
Durnan (who I am not having a go at by the way) has a mare at Hamilton and an even more torrid time against Celtic and him and a player (Morris) who's second only to Bilate in the physio queue (granted due to the Manager in Perth not taking him off) "will be good together".
I like working in evidence, so please explain......
I'm with Hunted, if we do get McKay and hopefully AN Other, I'd like to think that for the remaining games of the first quarter of fixtures we'll at least give the team a chance to gel or find some form?
And while I hope we do get him, everyone does know that when he first arrived up here, he took an eternity to score. And he will not be coming up here brimming with confidence either.

Agreed.
A lot of fans (like myself) will never boo the team or give abuse at a game but will vent spleen online if the team are playing utter gash/don't look like they're giving 100%.
It's either that or kick the Cat/argue with the missus. And i don't own a Cat

My missus has a cat. If I kicked the missus, her cat would scratch me. If I kicked the cat, my wife would scratch me !
Anyway enough of my p1sh. Terror in East Kilbride runs a great fitba forum.

Fae the little eh've seen eh felt Donaldson was the better of the current partnership, goes ti show that people see totally different things on a fitba pitch.
Btw wee rumour on my fb is Billy Mckay was just seen at Tannadice in the last 20 minutes. In fairness the source is questionable.

You can lay the blame for Morris' s injury squarely on JM, he was never fully fit after the Perth debacle.Morris was very solid until then!
The whole team played pish at Hamilton and Celtic is a huge step up for Durnan but it should stand him in good stead for the future.

Take your point Morph about different opinions on the field re. Donaldson. Think he's a no bad player, but main criticism of him, and to me it's blatantly obvious, is that he passes back to the keeper far too much. We've been lucky enough to get away with it so far, but sooner or later . . . . . .

When this forum started I originally didn't like the idea of diluting the fans online.
Worried that it was not a good move and wouldn't do any good.
I was wrong. Plain and simply far off the mark with original concerns.
Bile free and without a resident idiot. That must be rare with online forums.

I did blame JM re Perth. Until then Morris was reasonably decent IMO. I do remember he was culpable for a few opposition goals and he had a few fresh air shots in our penalty area, but hey given the frequency we concede goals, being culpable for only a few would probably qualify you as "very solid".
So gimme a scouting report and answer my question which is where Durnan trumps Donaldson given what we've seen thus far; and why Morris trumps Donaldson?

Yep was on Mad but never really posted as it was cuckoo time. Been here from the start and never felt like my views are not listened to and most lads and lassies put their points over in a mature manner and even if u don't agree it's not personal attacks.

Threads went ot in about three directions but for what it's worth...
Looking forward to McKay's signing, fuck knows what we're going to pay him with or what we're going to do with our other five strikers, but that's something for future Andy to worry about.
Durnan scares me, been more impressed with Donaldson, early days mind.
TT had a good mix of cunts, good topics, decent chat, much prefer to spout my negative pish on here than vocally at the games.
Back to my wine now, pished on a school night, teckle.

By the end on mad I found myself reacting more to slamming zoomers opinions back at them than sharing thoughts with fellow Arabs. Not what I want to be doing.
I love my team and don't want bogged down with tit for tat shit. It's not about being right for me it's about being United.

I think our back four is ... sorry, would be ... good if it wasn't defending for 80% of the game. They also don't get much help from the players in front of them. If you watch the Celtic game (don't traumatise yourself, just trust me!) you'll see Spittal doesn't cover Janko at all and leaves Dixon with a player flying at him one-on-one hence he was causing so much bother. That kind of thing happens alot, too many shots from the edge of the area as the midfield aren't picking up well enough.
Last season our central defence looked solid then got worse and the same is happening again. How long do we keep saying the fault is with the defenders?
Online!
This signing is fucking dragging on a bit isn't it?
Maybe its the extensive medical thats taking a while.

When we break with no confidence it's an obvious problem. Some just going through the jogging motions of supporting the mid and attack. That's the norm with teams low on belief and that's where we mainly are just now.
It's not the fault of one part of the team. Players hiding and worried of blame compared to giving the ball to a flair player is part of it. We don't have a star or two to pass to and push up with confidence and we're not managed to work with what we've got. Bairns hung oot tae dry in the hope someone turns into the next big star/sale.

Update from the papers this morning...
Dundee United have suffered a setback in their bid to sign Billy Mckay because the striker has been unable to negotiate a severance package from Wigan Athletic despite a £200,000 fee being agreed between the clubs. (Daily Record, print edition)
Hibernian manager Alan Stubbs has refused to confirm or deny that he is interested in signing Billy Mckay from Wigan Athletic but has admitted that a new striker is "the final piece" in the jigsaw as he completes the Championship club's squad rebuilding.(The Scotsman)
Dundee United believe they remain at the ahead of the pack to sign Billy Mckay and hope to have the striker available for Saturday's trip to face Ross County. (Daily Mail, print edition)

If he doesn't sign today i reckon it won't happen.
Just my gut feeling though.

In regards to the centre half pairing, Donaldson looks far better.
