Rumblings of a new striker being signed tomorrow

Take this with a pinch, but Robert Thomson of The Sun has hinted that a new striker could be signed by us tomorrow. He's not giving much away, so as I said, take it with a pinch.

Let's hope it's a realistic bid and not something Wigan will just laugh off.

The 5th Striker we will have signed this year, the other 4 have 2 goals between them.

Re: Rumblings of a new striker being signed tomorrow

McKay is a good proven Premiership striker, better than what we have at our disposal, I think he would be a great signing.

I would question why did we sign Muirhead, Anier and Murray and then Bodul when we only ever play with one up top and already had Bilate (and Ciftci last season) and a couple of promising strikers in our development squad?

Why not just get McKay the first time around, we've actually added a striker since we first made a move for him.

We could have five first team strikers (not including Dowser) on our books come 1st September and barring injury only McKay will start.

he is signing players and then realising they are not upto the job or is it the players are upto the job but wont play under the manager?
the squad is very young with potential to do well with the right guidance from the management and experianced players in the line up along side them.

Re: Rumblings of a new striker being signed tomorrow

This imo is the man we should try get, i know we have murray muirhead and bodul, but out of these three id look at playing bodul as a winger. He has power pace perhaps he can do a job there, that then would give us three strikers. I know we have bilate but i cant really see him staying fit.

Re: Rumblings of a new striker being signed tomorrow

I'm all for signing Billy Mckay but we badly lack service to the strikers as it is. Need to a sign a winger IMO.

Re: Rumblings of a new striker being signed tomorrow

the club has known the asking price for seversl weeks now and fucked it off weeks ago instead signing other players on free transfers. Billy Mckay should have been 5 games into his Dundee Utd career by now but he isnt cause we are and managed by clowns.

What has changed that we now need a striker?

Aniar was not in his plans, Is he now realising how injury prone bilate is?

as someone has said above we need creativity also.

McKay would be a cracking signing, he needs service though.

Spot on.

Bit of a minter that this wasn't wrapped up yonks ago. Will be an even bigger minter if we go back in we another bid and it fails. Give them what they're asking for FFS.

Everybody goes mental when ST doesnt get what he is asking for...but goes mental when we dont offer other clubs what they are asking for

Re: Rumblings of a new striker being signed tomorrow

can see this being strung out all week, depending on unloading anier, then  we end up with the new Rory Boulding in the last 15 minutes of the window

Re: Rumblings of a new striker being signed tomorrow

Fee of 200k (that all they wanted) apparently now agreed with Wigan for McKay.

He could sign later today

Re: Rumblings of a new striker being signed tomorrow

It's all well and good signing Billy Mckay ( who's a top striker btw) but he's gonna struggle if he doesn't get the service due to a lack of creativity in the midfield. Also it's not gonna help if we continue to play this one up front nonsense.

Re: Rumblings of a new striker being signed tomorrow

Just shows that we were conning the fans before if 200K was the mark

Fingers crossed we have already asked the wages question.....

BBC reporting 200k bid from united accepted - Mackay still to reach a settlement with Wigan - also apparently Ross County were also after him

FFS, Edinburgh may be a bigger pull than dundee for the lad.

I sincerely hope this deal gets concluded or the backlash will get ugly.
