I stick by my prediction that he is suffering from anxiety /depression.

Best outcome for everyone that it's nipped in the budget now before it rumbles on any longer.

The club once again has scored a big PR own goal unfortunately.

P. S. I wish Rodney well, if he does indeed have anxiety issues.

Massively unfair to call the guy a sneaky rat.

Maybe he does have legitimate health concerns that only arose after he signed?

Maybe a bit harsh, but I feel for Jackie here. I don't think any blame can be laid at his door over this. I personally think he's at the capers. Whether he is or not is hardly Jackie's fault. He's not a qualified shrink is he?

It's not where you're from it's where you're at.

Jackie can't escape blame here, after all he did say the guy was an attacking midfielder come wide player and what does he do?  Puts him on as sub with 20 mins to go when he is clearly half fit against a strong/physical/charged Aberdeen team and sticks him in front of the back 4. Boy looked like he'd never played there in his life.  If he was partly at fault for the goal then the managers got to shoulder some blame for his tactical decision to put him on there in the first place.

All the other stuff about whether or not he is genuinely ill or just at it is purely conjecture.  We'll probably never know like most things at the club at the moment.

Too much commotion

If he is genuinely ill...do you think you have a right to know whats wrong with him?  Its just a lot of people on these forums have been and still are having a go at the club for not "letting them know"...just wondering when we stopped expecting the club to be a responsible employer?

This is one thing that I am not really bothered about finding out.  His medical situation is his own business.  If it ruins his career then it is a real shame.

Re: Sneijder away home

There's a lot we can critise at the club right now but I don't think this is one, is it?

We signed him in good faith, we thought he would make us better.

He's either ill or at it, either way he doesn't want to be here and we can't blame Jackie for that surely?

Re: Sneijder away home

Its another bit of bad news we could all do without.  I'm not going to speculate too much on the health issue in question but it would be a hell of a turn of events for it to be anxiety related.  Would be one of those things he would have hidden going through his medical or would have to be something new to him within the 2 or 3 weeks he was with us.

Be a bit of a coincidence.  You cant think that's the first time that he's encountered a stressful situation in life.  I've a little experience with anxiety related stuff, just saying id be really surprised if this was newly developed, if indeed thats whats wrong with him.

Agree with Andy though, PR nightmare - yes.  Big deal - not really.  Biggest concern coming out of tannadice - not by a long shot.

Re: Sneijder away home

It doesn't always have to be someone's fault.

Sometimes things just happen.

Even if it does turn out that someone has pulled a fast one, from either side, to claim so at the moment is total blind speculation based on absolutely nothing.

I don't blame Jackie in this instance either mate.

Unfortunately it is yet more bad PR for the club at a time when we need anything but more negative press.

LOL.

Was posting on my mobile earlier and didn't even notice the predictive faux pas.

Re: Sneijder away home

Might sound a bit harsh, but whatever problems he might have, then they're no longer United's problems.

Indeed, the minute he went home I was hoping he wouldn't be back, it didn't seem like his heart was in it and something just wasn't right from the off.

Have you heard something plumber or are you just suggesting that there's probably more than meets the eye here?

Re: Sneijder away home

I said in the post match summary that Sneijder was to blame for the corner that led to goal. He was so far off the pace and allowed Flood to run with the ball that it was amateur standard. Night and day to the performance that Rankin produced before he replaced him. Perhaps he was unfit, perhaps he was under the weather, perhaps he was blamed....... most probably, we'll never know.

Re: Sneijder away home

He mentioned in a Dutch news interview just after signing for us that Turkish birds were pestering his brother at training and pleading for Wes to talk Dave into going to Greece.

He said no to the begging euro babes idea and headed for the Hulltoon and Faties. What the fuck could send him mental.  Just don't get it!?

Maybe it was the new weight of female expectation that suffocated his will eh?

Re: Sneijder away home

According to his agent suffering from post viral fatigue and expected to take 2 months to recover.

Claims has done the right thing by United in quitting.

Apparently recovering at the Fysiomed clinic in Amsterdam.

Could it be that the statement from the club was correct and some of the wilder rumours going about were pish?

Aye apparently the club were lying about all this...good of the renowned medical facility to go along with the subterfuge though eh?

Post Viral Fatigue is otherwise known as ME and is normally something that comes about after a a virus which then brings on anxiety/depression.

It can strike at anytime and would require total rest+recupperation.

On this one the club and McNamara are blameless.

In that case best of luck to him.

Know a wee bit about ME, one of my pals, a currant bun for his sins, got ME after having glandular fever. Went from mountain climbing and trekking each weekend to being close to bed ridden and on Disability allowance for the past 4 years.

No cure, and some people in medicine won't accept it as even being an illness as apparently no one has found a definite cause for it yet.

Hope he recovers
