Aye, I know, bowers. JMac likes money, and ST likes money. It's a difficult situation.

Jackie is clearly not going to walk, stands to lose out on a lot of cash if he does that, and he's already benefited nicely from player sales. Fortunately I wasn't there today and haven't seen any of it (not sure I want to) but the results since February have been shameful and he really does need to go and take his backroom staff with him. I wouldn't be adverse to Stuart McCall getting the job, prefer to go down the route of a man with no United links and he's very experienced in the SPL. Would like someone like Psycho as first team coach too, would happily give players a rocket when required. I personally can't imagine any of the current squad being motivated or given a rollicking by either Darren Jackson or Simon Donnelly. Today's result was the final straw, it's time for change Mr Thompson.

I reckon he's lost the dressing room.
How did they seem Pat? I mentioned in another thread about a fair few of our squad being mates of Campbell - Dillon definitely falls under that category. I don't know his relationship with McNamara but he definitely thinks a lot of Stevie. Same goes for Bo.
People talking about fan power pushing the manager out but if he's lost the club captain and resident club legend/coach, he'll do well to hang on.

Other folk must have noticed it too.
At half time Sean Dillon spent a large amount of time, to me, remonstating/complaining/moaning/arms waving about to the fitness guy (can't recall his name as I type) before taking part in a few loosley structured exercises, then the players broke up into wee groups doing very little.
Davie Bowman had a stern face all the way to the goal net at h/t, I think he exchanged a few words with guys behind the goal who might be able to throw more light on his demeanour (Perth boys). Then he took little part in any warm up.
Maybe reading too much in to it.
But I doubt it.
One thing that's occurred to me tonight is that. Macnamara's current deal (you know, the one that everyone complains about) put him on a (relatively) low basic with a potentially high bonus.
Won't that mean that he's cheaper to get shot of than might have been - and just when the club has cash in the bank?

Jackie and his two amigos have to go and Thompson should give all powers to his sister as he's lost it with us .

Eh'll say one thing in Jackie's defence. He hasn't been helped out in the slightest by the chairman since January.
I've never particularly rated Jackie, all this talk of free flowing fitba when really we're lucky to see it once every dozen games. However the deafening silence from the club since the departure of the Tim two has done nothing other than fester a further mistrust of JMac and the amigos as folk perceive them to be all be in the same boat as the chairman who is now pretty much despised.
A few decent statements and a Q&A (which was promised in last season's Season ticket book) describing how the club was moving forward would have given Jackie some time to manoeuvre and the fans backing.
Instead the whole club has imploded, fans are split, the manager is under increased pressure from fans (and rightly so), chairman is again posted missing, a first team player is also MIA in Holland and our top youth coach is on Gardening leave. EDIT: And most importantly the teams fucking mince
A shocking mess and one cause solely by St's greed and arrogance.

Expected to wake up and read that Jackie had walked, its no going to happen is it?
There will be no "crunch talks with chairman" etc as he's not around.
And on that topic, the same as January, our chairman and majority shareholder is on holiday at the end of a transfer window!

I have spoke to Utd supporters who think all is well because the bank balance is good, and Jackies contract is ok because we'll always need to sell anyway. It's true that the bank balance is important, it's also true we'll always need to sell, but when I suggested the managers bonuses should be related solely to success on the park, the answer comes back " we have been that's why we're managing to sell so many players".
IMO these people don't understand sport at all, sports about winning games/trophies, not just about developing players to sell to make a bunch of useless bastards money.
It's actually scary how many football fans don't understand the game at all.

Top comment bud.
I fully appreciate that we need to balance the books and also that we're a "selling club" as are Man Utd, Juventus, Dortmund etc but I want to see us win trophies.
We shouldn't be operating at a loss from season to season and need to sell players to break even, that's poor stewardship by the owners.
From 2012 Scottish football has been at its weakest point probably ever and we were superbly positioned to take advantage of that but we've made poor decision after poor decision and we've won fuck all and look like winning fuck alll for the forseable.
AND we're still in debt and running at a loss.
Honestly, I can't believe there are thousands of our fans who think everything is fine and we're doing as well, if not better, as can be expected under Thompson and McNamara, we have missed a golden opportunity here because of mismanagement in my opinion.

By greed I was referring to the last minute sales of the Tim two. I think it's fair to say their sales is what has landed us in this situation.
Selling them in the closing moments of the transfer windows to a rival club, who were set to play us in a cup final a few weeks later and a cup quarter final, completely eroded trust between the fans and ST.
After several statements declaring "We're in a safe place and don't need to sell", the club accepted a pittance (1.2m ish) for 2 of our best players, one of whom was still contracted for another year and a half.
I think it's fair to call this greed. Had we not sold Gauld and Robbo for around 5/6m I think the fans would've accepted his decision, however after clearing bank debt and announcing "soft loans" along with around 5m coming in via transfer fee's plus reaching a cup final the year previously he didn't have a leg to stand on.
Finally, add in his refusal to stump up the required amount for Scott Allan on deadline day, who would've at least replaced Armstrong, he left Jackie up shit Creek without a paddle.

Thanks for clarifying Morphman.
I'm gonna say that I part agree with you....the timing of the sales was wrong and while it might be argued that there was a risk that less money might of been realised on Armstrong I still think Celtic would have come back in the summer with a similar offer.
It simply wasn't worth selling GMS for £200k - certainly not that late in the window.
It's not I think greed though, which would suggest personal gain, and I've seen no evidence to suggest that was the case.

There is some really good stuff on this thread, genuinely good read. Can't add to it just basically agree with all of the above.

This thing needs closure NOW.
Thompson either needs to back Jackie or sack him.
I'm not usually one for demanding statements from the club. However, this situation needs dealt with rapidly. If he backs him. We need to get behind the team. It was always going to be transitional season.
If he sacks him, which he should have done end of season IMO, then he needs fans to get back onside.

If he backs him there's no closure unless results improve rapidly, folk aren't gonna say oh well let's just accept that he's here if results are continually poor.

I want him out as much as the majority do. Have been saying it to friends for fucking months.
Yesterday was a bit of a freak result though. 4 nil.
Results like that happen at times. Particularly when you've a very young team.
