Ok firstly the positives - Back 4 were excellent i thought.Looks like their is a good understanding between Durnan and Donaldson and a better organisation as a unit.Zwick looked hungry to show up well also and Spittal and Erskine showed nice footwork at times.
Negatives - We lost.
Zwick for all the good things he done, looks very shaky at cross balls just as Rado did. This of course can be ironed out with games, but how many games can we afford to start him in till he's comfortable? Can we afford one potential bombscare a match and hope he gets away with it as he did today? Not IMO.
2nd half display in an attacking sense abject. We offered very little going forward all day and NOTHING 2nd half.
Bodul and Sneijder looked miles away from fitness, particulary Darko.Absolutely bizarre decision to bring both on judging by their apparent lack of fitness.Even more bizarre was the decision to keep Robbie Muirhead on the bench all day at their expense.
Bilate has a physical prescence but that seems to be all.His first touch is atrocious tbh. He's all legs, and looks awkward on the ball.Deservedly subbed but it should have been for Muirhead.
Souttar was poor today.Dare i say it but looked unfit??His 'World Cup' pass in the 80th minute had me raging.First time we'd broke in ages and he plays a ludicrously lazy pass with the outside of his boot.He as a lot to learn yet and tbh Willo gave him a bit of a lesson today on how to organise and dictate a midfield.
Murray is full of energy, but on todays showing just reminds me of a Gardyne type.
Telfer - game passed him by and i'm no seeing what he brings to the table at the moment.Seems to escape much of the criticism the likes of Paton and Connolly receive though.
All in all a dissapointing display, albeit the defence looked solid. But we look toothless upfront and with zero pace.Something many of us commented on post- GMS-Armstrong.Our crossing/deliveries into the box were also very few again and when we did they weren't good enough, neither was the movement from our forwards.
Big improvement needed against Motherwell

Pretty much word for word agree with that. Passing from rankin, telfer, souttar surprised me at times. Thought all 3 were better than that.
Bilate was poor I thought. But we were on top. Just think making that change at 45 minutes sends the wrong message through the side Tek. We came out flat in the second half.
Offline
McGowan and Erskine the stand outs for me, all of defence and goalkeeper were good I thought, not much from Dixon going forward.
Spittal very good first half, didn't notice him second half. Thought Telfer, Rankin and particularly Souttar were poor, as was Bilate. Bodul, Murray and Dave were anonymous.
Second half was pish, shite goal, roll on next week.

Got to look for positives....
Defensively, didn't look bad.
Zwick was pretty decent
Erskine showed up well and did his best to come inside and link up with bilate.
Murray looks keen to run and chase
Negatives
I worry about us pushing mcgowan and dixon that far up - often donaldson looked like a right back he had to come so far over
Swick - needs to man up v quickly and dare I say it, bulk up a bit. If he gets a reputation of being soft; he will get those challenged every single game
For me, souttar, Spittal and telfer didn't look at the races.
We are still leaving our striker too stranded. 1st half not too bad but second half terrible...
All in all, we won't play aberdeen every week so should see points coming in but think we are going to rely on the big wages we gave out to dave and darko.... unless they get fit and show what they can do, we might end up looking average...

From listening to the radio analysis afterwards you'd think we'd been horsed 18-0. But what can you expect from two Aberdeen fans and a boy with a chip on his shoulder who doesn't like the manager because he punted him?
For what it's worth I thought we were poor in the second half and it mainly came from taking Bilate off. Without him there was no focus to our play whatsoever. It looked like Bodul was out wide and Telfer was up front on his own at one point, which was madness. If he didn't think Bilate was any good (and to be honest, miss aside I thought he was fine) then Muirhead should have been the replacement.
First half though we matched them. Erskine, Spittal, Bilate and Dixon all played some part in an attacking sense and though we didn't score we had chances.
Defence look decent, though Donaldson maybe isn't the best person to start passing moves.
Souttar I thought was very poor in the second half, playing without any urgency and Telfer generally isn't quite there yet.
Bodul was anonymous but so was everyone else for the first 20 minutes of the second half.
I'm not convinced Sneijder is best played in Rankin's position either. He said himself he's a left midfielder.
So we've got some work to do, but there are signs to be positive about as long as the manager doesn't make unreasonably daft substitutions.

Thought we started well then totally fell out the game.
Zwick looked good.
As did the defence.
Rankin is a fucking tube.
Souttar no bad but wasnt at his best.
Spittal started well
Telfer non existant
Erskine done well but 75mins onwards was as good as a man down.
Bilate how he never burst the net only he knows. Should have got through onto a 1 on 1 but went to side and fucked it..
Darko no impact
Murray does he just run?
Sneijder no impact.
Darko and sniejder didnt look nowhere near fit and shouldnt have been brought on imo.
Shit and unlucky goal to loss i thought.

Zwick did ok, should only get better definite potential there
Defence looked better organised most of the time hope there.
Souttar had a spell 1st half where he ran the show, but faded out of it badly, ranks gave his all but really offered little to help going forward.
Spittal did well 1st half as did Erskine. Telfer wasn't in it at all really.
Bilate is ok when knocking it in to his head/ chest, but really poor on the deck, 2nd touch is a tackle.
Bodul/Sjnieder too early too tell/ not ready to play yet clearly.
Murray made some good runs tbf, our long passes/punts were way off the mark tho. Did he touch the ball yet?
If Muirhead is 4th pick striker behind Murray, an unfit Bodul and Bilate then God knows what he's done to piss Jackie off, can't work this out at all.
Biggest disappointment to me was that a lot of the same problems are still there, no cutting edge/ lack of fitness and too many pussies shirking out of tackles.
1st half showed promise, 2nd half was abysmal. Jackie really needs to show he's got it and quick, don't think he can tbh.

Bilate has a shite touch for a big man
Also heard he fucked his hamstring again hence why he was pulled at half time. Surely no?

Apparently his hammy is indeed phlucked again. F knows how that happened, seemed arite when he went aff

Pretty much agree with most of the comments. The defence looked solid and restriced them to very few chances. Durnan should be happy with his debut. Telfer had no impact on the game, he should have gone at half time not Bilate.
A lot of patience will be needed this year, however we looked a better team than we were at the end of last season.

I truly despair.
What a dreadful signing and waste of money.

I want to see Durnan's determination throughout the team. We are a smidgen short in closing down sometimes and lack fight.
To me it's an absolute necessity to aggressively close, block and limit/panic the opposition when they have the ball.
When we have the ball we need to be braver. Anyone can play an easy pass back, back and back to the keeper. Zwick's kicking was fine but we can do better with the ball.
Rankin may be doing what he's asked to do but I want a better player in his position as that role dictates a lot of the match and he's OK but we don't want OK.
I see a future in Muirhead and Erskine. Darko and Sneijder are not fit so shouldn't judge and if Murray can get a goal or 3 his confidence will help his all round game. He's a good impact sub to tire out defence late on just now.
Get Davie Bowman to have a chat to the midfield about attitude at St Andrews next fuckin week.

I was happy with our 1st half showing apart from Bilate's sitter.2nd half shooting up the hill i thought they 14 mile journeys to ST Andrews caught up with us.

Not here to gloat...
Thought first half was fairly even, though Utd bad the best chance which brought a bloody good save from Ward.
Second half was poor from Utd, never really threatened or managed a sustained period of pressure. The loss of the timbo three became apparent and the Dons took control.
Good day out, cheers.

We were predictable pedestrian and the folly of letting butcher go is now coming home to roost could have done with his aggression today
Pleased with defence and gk on the whole. Lot of positives to be taken from their performances.
Spittal (first half) and Erskine were ok.
The other midfielders showed nothing.
What was really worrying were the substitutions.....brings Bodul on who looks well short of match fitness and then compounds this by dropping him back into midfield.....bizarre and puzzling.
Can't really judge where we are until a few games played but I'm currently struggling to see where our attacking threat is going to come from.

Shed57 bus had broke down in Glasgow it appears, so it was a dash for the Stirlingshire folk, but we all got there.
Don't like to name and therefore damn players, but found it strange the range of opinions of our forward options. Some fans had a very negative view of our lone, isolated striker, whilst I thought he was a menace to the Dons defence.
What I will say, as a view, is that we've sold 5 players who had the ability to go wide and get by defenders, and we now do not appear to have one player who can do the same.
'He plays on the left, he plays on the right' played through the middle as well.
Certain things need addressed.

It's all been said above re individual performances, but as we insist on playing with only one forward and no width (aaaaaaaarrrrrrggggghhhhh) there is no out ball. I have never witnessed a United team pass from side to side to side then back as much as I saw today. Aberdeen know how we are gonna play and they set out to suffocate us and they invariably succeed. They put out a reserve team to start, safe in the knowledge that they could possibly get three points by bringing on the first teamers late in the game. And again they got the lucky goal. It's gonna be a long hard season people, I'm just glad it all seems fairly civilised on here!

Sadly, we're predictable.
Absolutely no penetration. Jmac has to show that he can change tact or he will be a gonner. No doubt about it.
Play 2 up front ffs.
Oh. . . And buy a goal Scorer or its gonna be a long long season.

.
If you mean Mario Pat,i agree,he's a 'handful' physically. It's just that his first touch would appear to be so poor that invariably when the ball broke to him he gave it back to them. One instance in the 1st half the ball was played to him in a decent position no-one near him and his touch was so bad he put it out of play.
He should also have absolutely buried that chance.Hit it right into their keeper rather than it being an instinctive save.
Maybe we've just been spoiled with Daly,Goodie,Russell and Ciftci i dunno, but i'm looking for much more tbh.
It would be interesting to see him upfront with a partner however.

Got a good drink on me so wont bore you with my usual speel. Theres not a lot that others havent left unsaid.
Shagatron should have started, possibly Muraymints an all, however, 1st 10 minutes we were spot on, The better team. 2 missed opportunities. The rest of the 1st half it was even-stevens. Marios nearie was a sickener - should have toed it to Arklay Street. Not surprised he was subbed at half-time but sorry if it's his hammers again.
Re-Erskine. he made a chunt of it 2nd half when he took the ball up the right-wing. Murray was in the box in lots of space unmarked screamin for the ball, but Squidy tried to play thru to the goal all by himself, and it wentbout for a goal-kick. Ranks did the same a but later. Murray runs into box in loadsa space in the middle and Ranks tried somethin clever and we lost possession.
Amother dafty was bringing on Darko for Mario halt-time. He was upfront as a direct replacement for Mario. Then Murray comes on and we're all thinking - great 2 upfront - whereby he moves Darko back to mid? Doh.
Far too many backpasses to the keeper esp. from Donaldson.
Their goal wasna the keepers fault. Far too much time for them in our half.
As I said earlier, a game of missed opportunities.
