I know there was (is) a "debate" thread but now we're into September I thought it right to create a new thread for all things Indi related in the lead up to September 18th.
I believe tonight is the turning point for the Yes campaign. The latest YouGov poll, which is unsurprisingly pro-union in its calculations, has the Yes vote at 47% when removing DK's, it also has undecided voters moving to Yes twice as likely as No. This will be published in The Sun and The Times tomorrow.
YouGov have Yes 6 points behind, 2 weeks ago they had Yes 14 points behind and 4 weeks ago Yes was 22 points behind.
I also notice that Ladbrokes have shortened a Yes victory to 11/4 tonight, bearing in mind this was 6/1 about 4 weeks ago too.
The facts are that No is still the favourite, as it has been since day 1, in both opinion polls and with bookies.
On a related note, the estimated set up costs of an iScotland will be less than the money spent by EPL teams in this ONE transfer window.

Still think it'll be a No
It's going to be close though. Momentum is all with the Yes Campaign now. Think I've successfully converted 2 or 3 folk from No to Yes in past few months by repeatedly going on about it.

I'm not sure mate, I think we're going to do it but I am always an optimist so that really means fuck all.
There is another debate tomorrow where I fully expect Sturgeon and Harvie to boss it, and Elaine C Smith could get a number of undecided ladies on our side too.
I've been doing some canvassing and also "influencing" colleagues and I genuinely believe that the penny has dropped with a lot of undecided and soft no voters, there is nothing to be gained by voting No.
The BT campaign has been an absolute tragedy this month too, and we've got the BNP, UKIP and the OO all coming up over the next two weeks to aid the case of the Union which will, I think, play right in to the Yes campaign.

I used Better Together tactics of fear, imtimidation and threats to convert my Son to a YES.
Offline
I have an awful feeling NO will prevail with a majority as little as little as 1 or 2%
Yes 49% NO 51% Something like that.
Hope i am very very wrong.
The tide is turning, that much is clear. But is it too little too late ?I fear it is.

It's up to us YES voters to sway an undecided or convert a no, my problem is I don't know any.
Obviously keeping the right company.
So I'm voting YES for a future.
Offline
I must admit i know a good few and guess what team they follow? The only good thing is they probably won't be arsed voting come the day
Offline
Obviously keeping the wrong company , but you should be right regarding motivation.
Fingers crossed.

Just about all my Sevco mates are voting NO.
But i did manage to convert one to YES after basically haranging him on the subject for 2 years everytime we get a bevvy.
Some are just a lost cause but and won't listen to any reason. They can give me no real reasons for voting NO either. Can't even give me one benefit.

Don't think the debate added anything tonight, I think Yes will claim the victory but it was all pretty tame.
Elaine C Smith was out of her depth a couple of times but think she scored massively with her "if this is better then God help us" line.
That Tory leader on about us nuking Putin and all her other shite was outstanding, what a fanny.
Still think we'll win, the MSM are going to be brutal over the next fortnight so we need one horrible rag like The Sun to turn in our favour, and they will if they think Yes will win.

Missed tonights debate,Andy.
But saw a Vine on Twitter of the fat wee Tory wumin saying we need to keep Trident so we can "stamp all over The World".
Very Tory.And Very establishment.

Was ridiculous mate, she suggested that we were pretty much fucked without the Paras and the thousands of soldiers behind them.
Once Putin is finished in Ukraine he's coming for iScotland.

The Sun are close to turning, typical rag will need to be seen to back the winner. They done it with the SNP in 2007 too after previously being all about Labour.
Bill Leckie has moved to Yes from No and they put that on their front page.
They've got a story about £t of oil on the West Coast that is reachable when Trident is removed.
Another one about £600m worth of fracking in the North Sea once all oil has been extracted.
And finally a graphic of bets placed on YES/No in Scotland, highlighting that 90% of our bets have went on Yes, 97% in Dundee BTW.
It's happening boys, I feel it.

Wouldn't touch it or read a headline but I'm glad the sun's turning for the less discerning of the population if they can produce a kinnocklightbulbesque masterstroke for a good cause this time.
Just back from Tommy Sheridan speech and it's not a story on the oil, it was published yesterday by an independent scource (oilandgas?????) but not fully reported by any mainstream paper. Turns out the highly esteemed oil guru Ian Wood believed the oil reserves were overstated by the YES campaign. The YES campaign should've waited cos the independent source believe it's been understated
by 100%.
I'm feeling deja vu, or it could be the released information on 79 suppressed oil figures.
It's definitely happening because this movement has real juggernaut momentum now.
I'm voting YES for a bright future and no to bitter together.

I'll greet if its Yes

Imagine the parties in Scotland the first day of Independence.
I'll be getting pished either way tbf.

If it's Yes, will they still hoist a Union flag over Ibrox or like the Lion Rampant is banned in England will the Jack be jaked in Scotland?
Offline
Technically they should remove the blue from the UJ if we're no longer part of the union.
They won't as it's too much hassle and cost to business etc.
Offline
Should just have been the George Cross anyway, bearing in mind how dominant/abusive one partner of the "union" was since 1707.

Anyone being canvassed/balloted by their unions?
RMT came out for YES last week and I'm being canvassed by Unite. If it's based on Scottish members only this could be a major benefit to the movement on top of the Murdoch shift to the democratic cause.

I got a leaflet from the EIS but I just put it in the bin. My missus got a text from UNITE asking her how she was voting

Hope it was YES.
