Depends how highly Hibs rate and value Paton.

They can have who they want for Allan.

Would £250,000 be the largest amount ever bid for a player in Scotland's second tier?
Just wondering.
?Billy McKinlay Utd to Blackburn 1.5 million.
Sevco got near a million for some boy who I can't remember what his name was ana

Right enough mate. How could I forget? I was gutted at that one.
Bringing English money into the equation, there's bound to have been a few over the years that would trump £250k.
Still, a quarter of a million quid bid in Scotland right now is a big money deal. Not many other clubs around right now that are offering that for anyone.

Obviously it wasn't enough to get him, and good on Hibs for not taking the cash, but it's a bit much to call it laughable, no?
If u mean where I said it was laughable, I wasn't talking about the bid itself, but the fact the chairman was texting a supporter letting him know what he was bidding, joke way to do business IMO.
If u weren't meaning that I'll just shut Ma puss.
I don't even think we need or should be trying to sign Scott Allan, far more important areas of team need strengthened first.
Wasn't directed at you in any way mate. Apologies for crossed wires.

I've followed UTD since 1965, when I was a bairn in Kirkton. I've seen the best a football fan can ever expect to see, his team in a UEFA cup final and a European Cup semi final. I've seen the worst in relegation and too many cup final defeats to even think about. The worst of all though is the division now manifesting itself between the fans, the club and the chairman. My point is this; We , all of us are UTD. We need to get back to our roots, rekindle what made us the fantastic club we are and put the recent past behind us. I challenge everyone from the chairman to the youngest fan, to move on accept the reality of where we are and support our team. Football will always be about passion not business, but in reality we have to balance the books , once that's done we can look forward to a bright future. I'm sure no one one this forum wants anything other than UTD to be successful, so let's pull together, all of us, to achieve that!

Gunboat's reflection has been a long time coming and I'm glad to read his admiration for a fellow Arab posting in a style more associated with the Gunboat fae the past.

Message boards would quickly die if all participants had the same opinion, accusing people of being paranoid or having delusions of grandeur because they don't hold the same opinion as them is embarrassing, I'd tell my kids off if they were immature enough to act like that but thankfully they are not.
Personally I'm glad there are supporters who are questioning the running of the club as I don't think it's being run very well at all. I cancelled my Arabtrust membership after arguing years ago that they were far to cosy with the Thompson's. Others on here think everything is pure fine because we have seen a dozen or so fantastic performances from a multi million pound squad in the last two years, likewise that is their prerogative and we all have the same space to write our opinions, neither "side" has the facts.
And the argument that suggests that there is no skullduggery in business, that no football club would think about leaking misinformation to the press about potential transfers to win favour with their supporters is naive at best. I have no idea if United have done this re Allan but to say its a laughable idea is laughable.
Everything is black or white these days, no cunt takes anyone else's opinion on board anymore, happy to rubbish it unless it backs up their own belief.
Tidy.
Good post from the critical side, but presumably you know that any supporters possessing any positivity are "brainwashed"?
You're right, but it's a two way street.
