I've followed UTD since 1965, when I was a bairn in Kirkton. I've seen the best a football fan can ever expect to see, his team in a UEFA cup final and a European Cup semi final. I've seen the worst in relegation and too many cup final defeats to even think about. The worst of all though is the division now manifesting itself between the fans, the club and the chairman. My point is this; We , all of us are UTD. We need to get back to our roots, rekindle what made us the fantastic club we are and put the recent past behind us. I challenge everyone from the chairman to the youngest fan, to move on accept the reality of where we are and support our team. Football will always be about passion not business, but in reality we have to balance the books , once that's done we can look forward to a bright future. I'm sure no one one this forum wants anything other than UTD to be successful, so let's pull together, all of us, to achieve that!

The blame for the division lies at the chairman's door,i have followed United through thick and thin like your good self since the mid 60s from Kirkton too.I will not be back inside Tannadice again until the chairman rips up the ludicrious contracts he awarded to a management team who are the highest paid in the club's history on the back of 3 wins in our last 21 games(2 of them lucky).

Dumfriesarab's post is spot on!
Gunboat's reflection has been a long time coming and I'm glad to read his admiration for a fellow Arab posting in a style more associated with the Gunboat fae the past.

Great post. I worry that some people want us to have a bad start. That is not a good place to be. If we win and hopefully play well against Aberdeen I for one will be delighted, regardless of who the chairman and manager are. All the other (legitimate) concerns need to be left at the door that day.

There definitely seem to be too much internal strife, i call upon all factions to unite .The history and being a top six team for decades could be in jeopardy unless we unite. Us fans needs to know the direction this club is going , at moment its all surmiseand hear say. Chairman its now time to grow sme balls and let the important people into your vision for the future wether its with you or not .You are the owner and so far i believe youve done a good job so far but think club at cross road because lack off info lets clarify the situation.Once an arab always an arab.

Life is an ocean, there won't be anyone wanting us to have a bad start, it's the fear and worry surrounding most just now that we're gonna get horsed every week unless we strengthen ASAP, in the areas that we all knew needed addressing.
If/when new faces arrive things will be more positive, QPR and Watford at home next week should be something to look forward to other hopefully our new signings on display
Luggys right aswell, ST has been out the public eye for months now, not like him at all I'm sure you'll all agree ! He can pull a few signings out a hat and most will forgive him but either way would be nice to hear from him

I don't rate Jackie. Would have preferred he bailed at end of season but he's not going anywhere. Need to back the team though, whoever is playing.
Saying that I'm missing the 1st 3 home games of the season

Welcome Dumfries Arab - great first post.
In future years I'll look back on this period with great fondness. On the whole, it's been a very good time to be an Arab. We've seen some great players and some really enjoyable games. I've loved it.
The only real blight has been the inability of some of our support to enjoy it and instead spend their time trying to be proved right that certain people at the club should be forced out.
A dark cloud.

That made me laugh T6 !!!
Feb onwards was enjoyable eh, the league cup final was enjoyable, the horsing from celtic over and over again was enjoyable eh.
Offline
We've been getting regularly horsed from Celtic for over 20 years mate.
If I let that ruin watching United I'd have stopped going years ago.
Said it at the time, February onwards was a transition.
You continue picking out the negatives though mate and I'll continue focussing on the enjoyable times.

You need me to pick out the positives for you from the past couple of years watching United?
Surely a joke?

February onwards?
Thats no couple years unless you mean february 2013?

It was Affshore who mentioned February onwards. I just replied to his point.
To be honest, I'm not really that interested in getting involved in a debate about the relative positives and negatives over the last couple of years, since February, or any other period.
Like I've already said, some boys prefer to focus on the negative. To the point that even when there's a positive signing rumour they believe it's just a made up bid to appease the fans. When it gets to that stage it's time to get the tin foil hats on. That's beyond mental paranoia.
I support United because I enjoy it. It's entertainment. The day I get stressed and angry about it I'll chuck it.

so do you realisticly think we are going to shell out over £500k for scott allan?
do you think we will sign billy mckay?
im no going to get into a debate either
people need to see its about being realistic in the present climate
Offline
Maybe they will, maybe they won't.
I'm pretty sure though, that no-one at the United is going through the process of submitting a bid they know will be rejected just to try and placate a few hysterical supporters.

Spot on Bowers. Canna see how it's taken till now for these players to be suddenly linked with us. Let's face it if we wanted them we would've put offers in ages ago, abady knew Ciftci was away so we could've put bids in and signed players knowing we would recoup the money anyway.
If these "soft loans" are really as good as they were made out to be surely investors would've left the money in JM's hands this summer, knowing as we all did that Nadir would be away. We had the money back then and done f all with it.
Now we've sold him and it's taken the best part of a fortnight for us to put in two half arsed bids for Billy Mckay and offer a contract to Wesley Sneijders wee sister who's took our contract offer so seriously he's jetted off To Ibiza for a holiday. Now we're apparently going to sign Scott Allan as well? Nae danger.
This should've been done weeks/months ago if we were serious, no way ST or any other premiership club is going to flog out 350k plus for Scott Allan in the current climate, no even Celtic.
No buying it all, reminds me of these token bids you used to see celtic dae, putting in half arsed enquiries/bids for players they knew they'd probably never get but at least their fans would get off their backs for a while thinking the club were going for the sort of players they wanted.
Ehd love ti hope we're really going for all these players but canna see it, nae faith at all in club or manager pulling it off.
