Is this a joke Tek??? No it's fucking not.Great band.Their first album largely inspired me to pick up a guitar and led me down a hundred different paths.
Oh--aay-sis!!
Oasis were an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1991. Developed from an earlier group, the Rain, the band originally consisted of Liam Gallagher (vocals and tambourine), Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs (guitar), Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan (bass guitar), and Tony McCarroll (drums, percussion). They were later joined by Liam's older brother Noel Gallagher (lead guitar and vocals) as a fifth member, becoming the band's settled line-up until April 1995.
Oasis signed to independent record label Creation Records in 1993 and released their record-setting debut album Definitely Maybe (1994).
The following year the band recorded (What's the Story) Morning Glory? (1995) with their new and former Starclub drummer Alan White in the midst of a rivalry with Britpop peers Blur in the charts. The Gallagher brothers were featured regularly in tabloid newspapers for their sibling disputes and wild lifestyles.
In 1997 Oasis released their third album, Be Here Now (1997), and although it became the fastest-selling album in UK chart history, the album's popularity tapered off quickly.
McGuigan and Arthurs left Oasis in 1999 as the band went on to record and release Standing on the Shoulder of Giants (2000). After their departures, they were replaced by former Heavy Stereo guitarist/frontman Gem Archer and former Hurricane No. 1 guitarist/frontman Andy Bell who joined the group for the tour in support of Standing on the Shoulder of Giants, which had moderate success.
Their fifth studio album Heathen Chemistry (2002) saw Noel Gallagher's releasing strict creative control in the band's output with all members contributing songs, which led to more relaxed recording sessions.
In 2004 the band were joined by The Who's drummer Zak Starkey, replacing Alan White, and found renewed success and popularity with Don't Believe the Truth (2005).
Following the recording of the band's seventh album Dig Out Your Soul (2008), Starkey left and was replaced by Chris Sharrock on Oasis' last tour as a collective band. During the tour the brothers' increasingly deteriorating relationship ultimately led to Noel Gallagher announcing in August 2009 that he would be leaving the band after a backstage altercation with Liam before a festival appearance. The band, comprising the remaining members of Oasis and led by Liam Gallagher, decided to continue working together under the name Beady Eye until breaking up in 2014.

Utterly magnificent first album. Second album decent. Some gems later on but they largely disappeared of their noses and Liam is a wanker

Pyoor fine band, and a great time to be young and into music.
I played in a band around 95-99 and always done a few Oasis and Rolling Stones covers.
I fannied about at the front with a weird mix of Liam and Mick, cringe now likes but great times.

First album has so many good memories for me. Left school, moved to Edinburgh for uni and most importantly it was my soundtrack to United winning the cup

First 2 albums the best by far, loved The Masterplan too. Not as keen on their newer stuff. All about the memories too, first 2 were during my teenage years, the good old days!!

I remember the first time I'd seen or heard of them. I was at mates house on a Saturday morning and saw the video for Live Forever on the Chart Show on ITV and my mate walked in and caught me staring at the tv, head bobbing and said that the band was Oasis and they were going to be huge. I was struck by how much they looked and in that song sounded like the Stone Roses. Class tune. Proper times.

They were brilliant between 1994-1997. Be Here Now was a mess and they probably should have split after Bonehead and Guigsy left.
My favourite Oasis songs are b-sides

Their B-Sides are class like Slateford.
Cannae agree 'Be Here Now' was a mess though.Fucking love that album tbh and think it's very underated (even by Noel it would seem).

There are some great tunes hidden under all the bluster on BHN but for me it was just such a big let-down when it was released after the brilliance of the first two albums. I wish Noel had kept all the tunes he wrote for the b-sides of the singles from first two albums for the third album i.e. if The Masterplan had been their third studio album proper.
Best gig I have ever been to was when I saw Oasis in a big circus tent on Irvine Beach in 1995, they were electric.

I was in Irvine in '95.
Hundreds of lads walking about the town centre like fitba casuals singing 'Slide Away'.
Unreal time to be 15 and alive.
